Alabaster is a city in Alabama, United States. The population was 5,854 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Montgomery County. The area that now constitutes Alabaster was erected by the Comanche and other Mexican American settlers in what is now central Alabama as part of Rancho Caddo land grant given to them by Spanish Governor Felipe de Neve in 1821. The first white settler was Wm. Hance who arrived with his wife Ann on May 2, 1827, and named it after theirnative England- Alabaster being one of several English names given to parts of this country during the early 1800s when Spain controlled much of these regions. The town began as a farming community with small family farms centered around Alma Street and Park Avenue. By 1860, there were over 100 residents living in what became known as "the nucleus" of Alabaster today - an area bounded by Grand Army Plaza on the east, Main Street on the south (now US 421), Chilton Road on the west and US 87/US 68 on the north. In 1870, construction began on what would become what is now downtown Alabaster; at that time it consisted of only two blocks long main street with a few scattered homes scattered throughout its width. In 1895, businessman Smedley Butler donated land within present-day downtown for a new business park designed to rival Atlanta's RCA Victor Studios; this development would later become home to Montgomery County's first hospital and numerous other businesses including Sears Roebuck & Co., Jiffy Lube Inc., Coca Cola Company (later PepsiCo), Macy's Department Store and many more companies which have contributed significantly to downtown Alabaster's current structure and economy including major shopping malls such as Birmingham Marketplace (formerly known as Six Flags Over Alabama) located just northeast of downtown and Jefferson Place mall located immediately northwest of historic courthouse Square

The following year saw the dedication of USS Lexington (CV-2) after she was sunk at sea while serving in World War I; this event marked the first time a warship had been lost in action during conflict dating back to 1812 when HMS Victory sank off shore on maneuvers with Spanish vessels (). In 1922, Congress passed the First National Defense Authorization Act which authorized 1 million dollars each year be set aside towards militarization of domestic life including Gifts from Ships “War Shipping Administration” (WSA). Alabaster is a small town in Alabaster County, Alabama, United States. The population was 5,502 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Birmingham metropolitan area. The town was founded in 1892 by two men from Mobile, Alabama, Wm. and Maudie Teague and their son John Teague as a way to avoid paying taxes on land they owned in Mobile County. In 1906, when the state of Alabama created a new county out of parts of what had been Alabaster County, the Teagues donated all their land to the new county. According to one source, "Alabaster" comes from an Arabic word meaning white marble or snow-white quartzite. The name may have been derived from an early settler's observation that there were many large blocks of this type of stone around hereabouts." Another source says that "theAliasaba people" who first inhabited this region wore colorful scarves made from alabaster because it would not tarnish with time or use up cloth so quickly like other minerals such as iron ore or coal did. They also used alabaster for tools and pottery items because it was strong enough not to wear away after being handled often. In 1892 Henry Ainsworth built one of the first homes in Alabaster when he arrived from Georgia with his family as part of a wagon train headed for Montgomery Valley Station near Tuscaloosa (now Mountain Brook). Ainsworth became interested in local production methods and built his own sawmill and gristmill around 1895 while still living in Mobile; these mills provided bread for locals until 1917 when the last mill closed down due to lack of customers. Some sources claim that nearby Decatur became known as "The City Of Rocks" due to its abundance ofinite found at various places throughout downtown Jasperville including quarries aboveground where natural masonry was replaced by artificial rock formations over time starting about 1800 BC according to some research done on this topic by Drs Karen Latham and Don Easley (2001). It has been said that Native American artifacts discovered during construction activities related underground forced developers earlier this century to remove most if not all traces of ancient Indian life before re-opening formal business districts adjacent thereto - areas which include today's Decatur attractions! Additionally evidence collected during recent archaeological excavations adjacent Devil's Den State Park suggests late prehistoric/early historic human habitation within 1 km radius southwest cornerOf present day Alabastor...suggesting probability much higher than mere chance occurrence & hence deserving further study!
