The Coast Guard Station at Center Point was first established in 1916. It was the result of a request by the Alabama Legislature for a station on the Gulf coast. The station was staffed by fishermen and their families, assisted by local fishermen and Harbor Patrolmen. In 1934, the Coast Guard Station moved to its present location on Spring Lake Drive. In 1952, center point became part of Mobile County and the Coast Guard Station there became part of Mobile County Sheriff's Department. In 1968, as part of an effort to consolidate all law enforcement activities in Mobile County, the Coast Guard Station at Center Point merged with that agency's offices in Baldwin City. Today, the Coast Guard Station at Center Point continues to provide support to law enforcement agencies throughout Mobile County. The station is also home to a museum which is open daily from 9am-4pm EST.

Center Point is a small town in Tuscaloosa County, Alabama, United States. The population was 4,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Tuscaloosa-Decatur Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Center Point was James Fenton, a Baptist minister who came to the area in 1819. He and his family built their house on the present-day corner of Centre and Market Streets. The Fenton family went on to own a number of businesses in Center Point, including a store, bakery, and cotton gin. In 1865, Center Point became part of the newly formed Alabama Territory. The territory was divided into five counties – Ashtabula County, Butler County, Mobile County, Montgomery County, and Shelby County – and CenterPoint remained within Butler County.
