Center Point is a small town in north Alabama which straddles the border of Huntsville and Decatur. The population was 5,557 at the 2010 census. It is located on U.S. Route 35, just east of the city of Huntsville. The town was founded by two families who came from Tennessee in 1836 to escape Indian attacks. They named their new community " Centrepoint" after a point near where they were living when they first arrived in Alabama. The original settlers were Presbyterians and Methodists from Tennessee who had come to trade with the Choctaws and Chickasaws as part of a trading expedition sent by President Andrew Jackson during the 1830s. In 1864, General John Custer's 4th Cavalry Regiment camped nearby while engaged in an unsuccessful attack on the Creek Nation led by General Robert E Lee during Price's Rebellion. After that battle, many soldiers deserted or were discharged because of their concerns about Indian retaliation against white civilians if war continued unaided by United States forces under General Sherman. Many of these men turned to farming instead of service in the army, but some still returned to Centerpoint to live out their days there before dying or moving away again over time

The community was founded by white farmers who moved from nearby Tuskegee to start a new life in what is now Center Point. In the early days, Center Point was known for its fertile land and its many farms. From there, the town quickly became an important center for trade and commerce in southern Alabama. Today, Center Point remains a largely agricultural community with some light industry involvement. The earliest settlers in CenterPoint were white men who had come to central Alabama from Tuskegee to start a new life. These men were motivated by their desire to escape discrimination and racism that they experienced back home. They were also hoping to find opportunities for their families to succeed as well. Unfortunately, things did not pan out as planned; instead, they found themselves struggling through difficult times. However, these men persevered and eventually founded a small town called CentrePoint on property they had acquired near Tuskegee Creek. At first, CentrePoint consisted of just a few hundred people; however, it soon began growing rapidly due to the additions of more settlers throughout the years. By 1910, CentrePoint had Reached 1,000 residents! This growth came about because business owners within the community started trading goods and services with other local communities in order to gain an edge over those located further away. As time went on, Centrepoint decided it wanted its own school system and built one himself – something that wasn’t common among towns at this point in history! Today, CentrePoint is still one of the most important communities in southern Alabama – both economically and socially! Its economy revolves around agriculture alone; however, recent investments have brought much-needed retail outlets and jobs into the townspeople’s lives as well! In addition to its cultural significance (particularly within its African American community), Centrepoint has been celebrated for historical reasons too – such as being recognized as one of America’s “First Black Towns”!

In 1854, Center Point was named the capital of the Confederate States of America because it was the only post-war city in Alabama that remained unoccupied by Union forces during the war. The city prospered until the early 20th century when its economy collapsed due to factors such as World War I, Prohibition, and mass migration from rural to urban areas. Today, Center Point is a small fishing village with few permanent residents and is best known for its annual Peach Festival which takes place in late August or early September.
