Center Point is a town in Marshall County, Alabama, United States. The population was 1,059 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Birmingham metropolitan area. The first settler in Center Point was Alfred Smedley who arrived in 1820 and named it after his old home on Round Top Hill near present-day Centreville. By 1825, John Wesley Hardin had also moved to Center Point and founded a Baptist church there. A post office called Centrepoint was established in 1827, and remained in operation until 1907. In 1830, center point was platted as a town by James Jernigan with the name "Centrepoint." In 1835, Elijah Woods laid out a village site just east of the current town line between Centrepoint and Ensley. The first store opened there on October 17th of that year. This village soon developed into what is now Centrepoint under the leadership of Captain Lewis Boone (1807-1891).
