In 1907, Rear Admiral David Dixon Porter delivered an anchor and a plaque to Centre Point recognizing Rear Admiral Porter for his role in leading U.S. forces during World War I. The USS Enterprise which arrived in 1922 was also donated by Rear Admiral David Dixon Porter and included a plaque honoring him and six other Americans who lost their lives on board during World War II. The Enterprise was later scrapped but its anchors still remain on display at Navy Pier located in downtown Center Point. In 1967, the USS Buchanan was donated to Centerpoint by Captain James Buchanan who had served as Commanding Officer US Naval Forces Europe during World War II. The Buchanan had been sunk off Norway after making wireless contact with American submarines while engaged in Operation Neptune’s Spear, one of America’s largest amphibious campaigns of World War II. Captain Buchanan offered his ship to Centrepoint if they could raise $10,000 so they could install antennas on her decks so she could be used as an emergency communications center during Hurricane Katrina when it hit Louisiana on August 29th 2005). As part of the donation agreement, Captain Buchanan also agreed not to sell or lease his ship to any other organization until he received a memorial from Centrepoint that honored him personally andhis service to them During Katrina Captain James Buchanan's remains are interred at Fort Necessity Cemetery located just east of town off SR 441 near mile marker 168 .

The first post office in CenterPoint was established on December 12, 1907. The population of CenterPoint at that time was just six people. By 1912, the population had grown to twenty-one people thanks to the arrival of more settlers from Georgia. By 1916, there were thirty-six people living in Center Point. In 1924, when it became a city,CenterPoint had a population of seventy-eight people. In 1951, when it became an independent municipality again,CenterPoint had an estimated population of one hundred fifty-eight people! In 1987, during the construction of Interstate 465 through central Alabama,Centerpoint experienced some hard times as much damage was done to local homes as well as businesses along the way! Despite this though,the community bounced back quickly and by 1992 had recovered sufficiently for its first celebration ever - Homecoming weekend! That year also saw another milestone - when Central High School opened its doors for classes following several years of construction! Nowadays with so many different businesses within walking distance as well as all kinds of cultural events happening every month (from music festivals to arts shows),Centerpoint is once again thriving and primed for more growth!
