By 1930, the population of Dothan had reached 1,500 people; however, its economic importance declined after World War II as production shifted away from cotton towards other products such as automobiles and shipbuilding. After years of decline and neglect by successive governments over the past few decades, significant redevelopment has occurred in recent years which has seen renewed interest in Dothan as a vibrant community with rich history & culture
