Enterprise, Alabama is an unincorporated community in Jasper County, Alabama, United States. The community is located on the east side of the Tuscaloosa River. It was founded in 1875 by James Fenton and his family. Enterprise had a post office from 1875 to 1935. In 1941, it was incorporated as a city. It lost its city status in 1972, but has regained it since then. Enterprise has a population of about 1,000 people and is home to two schools – Enterprise School District #2 and Mobile High School – as well as two businesses: Jiffy Lube and M&M's Pizza Place.

However, despite this intense conflict, enterprise continued to thrive thanks to its strategic location and key role withinAlabama's cotton economy. After the war ended, many African Americans migrated to Enterprise from throughout Alabama looking for new opportunities. This migration helped create what would become known as "The Great Migration". As black Americans started moving away from plantations towards urban settings throughout America, they needed places to live and work - so businesses like enterprise took notice and began establishing themselves throughout Birmingham and areas surrounding Atlanta (including downtown Atlanta). This growth led to increased competition for jobs among white residents - but also generated new wealth for those who managed these businesses. The first white settlers in Enterprise, Alabama were James Denny and his family. They arrived in 1819 and started a small farm. In 1830, Dr. John Rankin moved to Enterprise from Huntsville with his family. He founded theRankin Hospital in 1832. The hospital was the first clinic in that area. In 1840, Sarah Green purchased land around the back of her house and built the first school in Enterprise. The school was named for Mrs. Green's daughter, Charity School House. In 1865, Jeptha Bowen bought fields around the edge of Enterprise from Daniel Boone and began to grow cotton there. He built a mill on the stream that ran through Enterprise and produced flour, cottonseed oil and other goods until it closed in 1923. In 1917, Lillian Anderson became one of America's first astronauts when she became an airwoman at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base near Dayton, Ohio while serving as an instructor at NASMOS-9 training station located on campus at Wright-Patterson AFB until her retirement in 1984 as Command Pilot of E3-4C "Dolphin" Aircraft Carrier Flight 571 during space missions flown aboard Apollo 15/16; after which she resumed flying as a commercial airline pilot
