It has been said that the Gulf Coast region of Jacksonville, Alabama is known for its rich maritime history. This history goes back to the 1800s when a group of men from Mobile, Alabama started a coast guard service in order to keep ships and people safe from pirates and raiders. The first coast guard station was established in 1829 on the present site of Jacksonville Beach. In 1865, Jacksonville became part of the Confederate States of America and the Coast Guard stopped being used. However, until 1972, there was still a coast guard detachment stationed in Jacksonville. The first modern Coast Guard Station in Jacksonville was built at 3rd Street and Macon Avenue in 1925. It served as an air base for coastal patrol boats during World War II. After the war ended, the station was decommissioned and sold to developer John Ladd who turned it into what is now called Ladd Point Park. In 1976, Princess Diana received an honorary membership award from Coastal Security Command which highlighted her role as Patroness of Coastal Security Command since she helped fund its creation by donating land near Fort Myers Beach along Florida’s Gulf Coasts. Today, Coastal Security Command operates multiple stations throughout Jacksonville including one located just north of downtown at Jacobs Field!

When Jackson was elected president in 1828, he designated Jacksonville as his new West Florida capital; this designation lasted until he moved his temporary headquarters to Montgomery in 1830 afterbecoming president for a third time In 1838, following Indian removal policy under President James Kenedy (of Texas), many Cherokees from north Georgia moved south into Creek territory around Tuscaloosa County in central Alabama under agreements with General Montgomery that were intended to end forced Seminole removal from their lands east of the Appalachian Mountains During Reconstruction era (1868-1912), Jacksonville became one of several black American cities that experienced significant growth due largely to migration by African Americans seeking better economic opportunities than they could find back home
The Coast Guard is a national emergency response service and law enforcement agency of the United States. It was established on August 29, 1790 by an act of Congress as the first national police force in the United States. The Coast Guard has played an important role in American society since its creation and is responsible for maintaining public order and deterring maritime crime. The history of the Coast Guard gift history can be traced back to 1820 when Captain John A. MacDowell submitted to Congress a petition for a coast guard station at Kiska, Alaska. This request was granted and the first patrol ship, USS Constitution (1821), was built to serve as a coastal guard station on Kodiak Island. In 1825, Commodore John Dye ordered construction of three more coast guard stations: Governors Island (New York City), Patuxent River (Maryland), and Point Lookout (Alaska). These new stations were manned by volunteers from among the seamen of American ships operating in international waters. In 1861, President Abraham Lincoln signed an act creating the Department of Commerce which included within it the Bureau of Navigation which became known as the Coast Guard after December 15th, 1912 when it was transferred from Naval Command to Interstate Management under then-Secretary of War Edwin M. Stanton Jr.. The Coast Guard continued its expansion during World War I with plans to build over 100 heavy cruisers, destroyers, submarines, aircraft carriers and other naval vessels; however these ambitious plans never materialized due to budgetary constraints. After World War II ended there were only a few small agencies remaining within DOT&E including Customs Service personnel who had been part of predecessor bureau’s activities; these were merged into newly created Department Homeland Security on October 20th 2002 effective January 1st 2003 with responsibility for all aspects related to border security including customs functions along US borders with Canada and Mexico – now also part of DHS while still administered through CBP which continues providing passenger screening services along those borders) On July 14th 2009 Lighthouse Keepers Association donated two WWII era lifejackets worth $1 each for use aboard USCG Cutter Kimball during Shipyard Outreach Day event off Martha’s Vineyard MA On December 5th 2010 Lighthouse Keepers Association donated two WWII era lifejackets worth $1 each for use aboard USCGC Polar Star during Winter Storm Watch event off Cape Cod MA
