Scottsboro, Alabama is birthplace of the first law enforcement officer in America. The town was founded by white settlers in 1825 and became a center for black slave trade and cotton plantations. In 1865, during the American Civil War, Scottsboro was occupied by Confederate forces. A group of Union soldiers were ordered to leave town when they realized that most of the population were Negroes. One soldier decided to stay and investigate what was happening. He observed several young Negro women being abused by white men and reported this information to his superior. This led to the arrest of many Confederate officers and soldiers in Scottsboro. After the war, Scottsboro reverted back to its white majority and police department began operations from a small building on Main Street. Today, Scottsboro is home to one of the oldest police departments in America with over 100 years of history. Scottsboro, Alabama was a town located in Montgomery County, Alabama, United States. The population of Scottsboro at the 2010 census was 931. It is now part of Montgomery County. The first settler to arrive in what is now Scottsboro was James Fenton in 1821. He and his wife, Martha Jane Steele, founded a cabin on the nearby Mobile River. A post office called Scottsboro was established in 1827, and by 1830 it had a population of fifteen residents. In 1836, the community became known as "Scottsborough" after General John Scott's army defeated Aaron Burr at the Battle of Bull Run (now Overton Park). In 1881, following the collapse of Reconstruction in America and violence throughout much ofAlabama following Reconstruction efforts by state legislatures and local officials--including that of Montgomery County--a group of white men from Huntsville burned down a black church which had been used as a Union recruiting station for Confederate troops during the American Civil War. This event is commonly referred to as "The Massacre", although no participants or perpetrators are certain; historians disagree about whether or not it actually happened at this location or another nearby location within Montgomery County After years of litigation over property titles surrounding the burning Church—and evidence that some people may have participated in arson rather than stand trial for their actions—the case came to an end when all but two defendants were acquitted after a five-hour deliberation on December 3rd 1865 before United States District Judge Haskell Smith Jr., who ruled that there could be no 'civilian casualties' because "the military operations prior thereto seemed so successful". On July 12th 1928, twenty-one years after the original arson attack on The Church near Scottsboro Town Hall,[1] four black schoolgirls were kidnapped from their classrooms inside Tuskegee Institute School for Negroes just yards away from where theylectrified lessons to pupils each morning until their abduction by White Supremacists led to national attention and several high-profile arrests across America including those made by then Attorney General Andrew Johnson[2]. Their abductors were eventually apprehended and convicted with assistance from U.S Marshals across America during his time as president beginning in January 1969,[3] resulting in severe prison sentences which saw these young women serve more than fifty years behind bars before being finally released into civil rights activist families’ custody on September 7th 1986 based upon claims that racial discrimination still exists today throughout many aspects of U.S.-Alabama relations despite significant progress made since then including passage/execution/implementationof landmark Supreme Court decisions such as Brown v Board Of Education (1954) & Ahmad v Holder (2011).[4]

After hostilities ceased in 1945, many retreated back into their homes while others were forced out by discriminatory policies implemented by Post-War America towards African Americans which included numerous job losses following The Great Migration across America's southern border seeking better opportunities than they experienced in Mississippi orAlabama during Reconstruction years 1868-1877; however some black residents did return home after 1951 when full civil rights restoration occurred with African Americans now enjoying full access to education, housing and jobs like those available whites until then...Many post-war white veterans who had served patriotically returned home too but often faced discrimination from most businesses owners who were still recovering from World War II...Today's Scotttownians are descendants of these early pioneers who have adapted well to today's changing landscape."
Scottsboro was a small town in Alabama that was the site of an infamous plane crash on July 18, 1955. The plane, registration number NX7678, crashed into a wooded area near Scottsboro Municipal Airport after takeoff from nearby Montgomery airport.
