The Marine Corps Deployment Gift History Museum in Arkadelphia, Arkansas preserves the history of Marines who have deployed to various countries around the world. The museum features exhibits on the history of Marines and their service to our country, as well as donated items from Marines who have deployed. The Marine Corps Deployment Gift History Museum was founded in 1990 by Donny Kofman with the goal of preserving and sharing the history of Marines who have deployments to different parts of the world. There are currently displays on every continent except Antarctica and there is a collection of over 200 donated items from Marines who have deployments. Donny started collecting donations from Marines after he served in Okinawa in Japan during World War II. He then moved to Commandant’s Palace, Washington D.C., where he worked for many years as an usher at The White House Correspondents’ Association dinner functions. In 1990, Donny started collecting donations from Marine Corporals and Pfc’s stationed all over America for his new organization called “Marine Corps Deployment Gift History Museum” which would eventually become known as “Marine Corps Memorial Day Gifts Gallery” inside The White House]. Donny has always been passionate about his work at “Marine Corps Memorial Day Gifts Gallery” and has donated thousands of items including uniforms, medals, decorations, equipment and even furniture since its inception.
