At that time, the town was known as "Bayport" and it was a rural community located about 15 miles northeast of Little Rock. In 1941, Bayport became a military installation when the United States Navy activated it for its nuclear weapons program. The Naval Base at Bayport housed several naval hospitals and served as a training ground for naval officers and their crews. The USS Enterprise (CV-6) docked at Bayport on December 12, 1941, during the early days of World War II. That day, President Franklin D. Roosevelt delivered remarks before the ship's crew on board her temporary home port. In addition to President Roosevelt and other top officials from the United States government, more than 150 Sailors and Marines from USS Enterprise disembarked at Bayport that day - including Navy Commander John W. McCain who would later serve as Senator from Arizona). The navy installed numerous naval installations throughout Arkansas during World War II; Bella Vista became one of them in 1941 when Naval Base No. 2 was activated there for its nuclear weapons program. The base functioned both as an operational base for troops stationed in nearby Little Rock and also as a training ground for naval officers and their crews who were learning how to use atomic weapons. Many navy personnel caught up in the war effort spent their time at Naval Base No. 2 which also included barracks units built specifically for enlisted sailors dating back to World War I; these barracks still exist today within the confines of Naval Base Noaheisha Park adjacent to Interstate 40 just outside of Bella Vista proper (see photo below). In 1945, after Japan had surrendered following WORLD WAR II, bayport remained an active military installation until it closed down in 1949 due to budget cuts by then-President Harry S Truman's administration; however some activities such as ceremonial flights over Lake Conway continued until 1958 when those activities were finally discontinued altogether due to environmental concerns brought on by uranium mining operations nearby! Today you can visit Naval Base No2 today if you're lucky enough to find yourself within driving distance...or better yet head out there yourself on a sunny day like this one!

Bella Vista is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,827 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–Rogers City metropolitan area. The Bella Vista post office was established in 1903 and closed in 1993. Bella Vista is named after Alice Cullen from "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone". A high school called White Sands High School (now known as North Little Rock High School) was established in 1907 by John H. White and remains open today. In 1911, Edward Everett Kincaid founded the Bella Vista Baptist Church which still operates today. In 1916, Ernest Culp bought land adjacent to present-day Bella Vista for what would becomepresent-day Pulaski County Park; this included most of what now makes up Bellvista Village and portions of present-day Bellefontaine Village Historic District. The first house on that property was built by J.C. Pratt in 1917; it remained his home until his death in 1984. On November 5th, 1922, Pulaski County officials organized a local election to determine whether or not to annex more territory from neighboring Benton County into Pulaski County; Bellefontaine Village voted against annexation but did so because they wanted more control over their own affairs."Pulaski COUNTY BOARD OF ELECTIONS NOTICE - Notice of Election for Members of Council - November 5th 1922" On December 4th, 1922 the annexation ordinance was passed with a vote of 7-1 favoritism towards Bellefontaine Village over Benton County.
