Cabot is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,895 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Pulaski County. Cabot is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Webb City, AR Metropolitan Statistical Area. The history of Cabot has its roots with the arrival of Captain John Smith and his group of English fur traders in 1785. In 1812, Captain Ebenezer Richardson arrived in what is now Cabot to establish a trading post after journeys through Texas and Mexico had failed to find any tributaries of the Arkansas River available for navigation. He named the town after Samuel de Champlain who explored this area in 1609-10 while on an expedition led by Jacques Cartier. Captain John Sargent founded Fort Sargent near present-day Cabot in 1836 as part of a military campaign against Mexican forces that were occupying Arkansas Territory following their victory over Ulysses S. Grant's army at Alamo Hill. The fort served as headquarters for Colonel James Hance during the Indian War and also became known as "the depot for cotton." After Texas seceded from Mexico in 1861, Garrison moved his operations from Fort Sargent to San Antonio before finally moving to New Orleans where he died in 1865. Cabot saw its first settlers arrive during Reconstruction when General Nathan Bedford Forrest called upon residents of Arkadelphia and other towns located along the Arkansas River valley to relocation due to political instability caused by civil warring factions withinArkansas Territory In 1872, Augustus Fenton organized a company called The First National Bank which became one of the largest banks west of Kansas City and later helped create what would become known as The Ozarks during Reconstruction period For many years until it merged with SunTrust Corporation in 2006, Cabela's was one of two major anchors for Walmart's operations within Arkansas After passage of Regulation Number 128 (2006), Walmart opened its first store inside a brick building on Main Street just outside Of Town limits

The original settlers were primarily farmers who arrived from Massachusetts and Connecticut. The town was named after the explorer Sir Francis Drake. It began to grow rapidly during the early years of its existence due to the local lumber industry and other businesses that developed in the area. In 1925, Cabot became one of two towns in Pulaski County to be incorporated as a result of an act passed by the Arkansas General Assembly; this made it one of the few counties in Arkansas without a seat at the state level. As a result of its small size, Cabot has limited development over time and retains much of its pioneer culture and history. Today, Cabot is a small but active community with many residents who have been drawn to its unique location and history. The town has several buildings that are World Heritage Site-listed including the Drake Hotel which was built in 1907 as part of an effort to revive interest in visiting Arkansas coastal towns dating back to before slavery. Other notable buildings include First Baptist Church which was built in 1906 and still stands today, Union Carbide Company plant which became known for their high-quality insulation products after it opened in 1928, and Crossett School District Headquarters which is also listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
