The store was located on Main Street in Springdale and it continued to be run by Bob and his family until 1981. In that year, Bob's son, Darrell Smith, took over the business and it has been operated by him ever since. The store is now located at 901 S. First Avenue in Springdale and it continues to be a popular destination for gun enthusiasts throughout Arkansas.
Springdale, Arkansas is a town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 2,046 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Pulaski, AR Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name " Springdale" comes from two springs - Springdale Creek and Springdale Pond - which were located on the same property where the town now stands. The first settlers in what is now Springdale dispersed in 1824. By 1830, eleven families had moved to this area and by 1851 there were twenty-six families living hereabouts. In 1865, a post office was established in this area with Waddell as its first postmaster. This small community did not grow much until after World War II when industry began to arise hereabouts and people began moving into the new towns being developed nearby such as North Little Rock and Fort Smith. Today's population of 2,046 reflects that growth over time as well as recent arrivals from other parts of the country brought about by various types of economic activity currently existing within Pulaski County including technology companies and medical laboratories

Springdale is a city in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 25,362 at the 2010 census. Springdale is the county seat of Pulaski County. It was founded in 1871 as a small town named for Wm. H. Springdale, an early settler and landowner in that area. The first post office opened in Springdale on November 14, 1871, and was called "Cottonwood". On May 15, 1875, it changed its name to "Springdale." The first store built in Springdale was the Springdale Store & Mercantile Company which operated from 1870 to 1898. In 1901, the store burned down and new stores were built at both ends of Main Street; one on the east side and one on the west side of town square. In 1902, Springsville (now part of Springfield) was incorporated as a separate municipality northwest of Springdale with a population of about 20 people. On December 12th 1907 when Pulaski County merged with Arkansas to form the state of Arkansas , Springsville became part of Pulaski County . On October 1st 1912 voters passed an ordinance authorizing racial segregation in public schools within Pulaski County . The measure failed to pass due to strong opposition from white supremacists who saw it as another step towards integration . On January 16th 1914 by order of Judge John Aiken Scott Jr., all black students must attend white schools starting September 1st 1914 until such time that integrated school systems could be established throughout Arkansas
In 1875, the first white settlers in Springdale arrived. At that time, it was a small hamlet of about 30 people. By 1890, Springdale had grown to over 120 people and became an important stop on the Arkansas Railroad. In 1923, the Springdale School District was formed and Springdale continued to grow until it reached its current size in 1955.
