Today's community began its slow growth in the early 2000s as waves of refugees flooded into Arkansas from Ferguson Township near St Louis due to economic instability there following Hurricane Katrina's landfall that year. Many refugees settled in areas such as White Sulphur Springs and Arkadelphia before moving on to Pine Bluff or Searcy after they could find affordable housing there or elsewhere. In 2007-2008 springdale initiated several initiatives intended at creating economic opportunity within their community by implementing Community Development Block Grants (CDBG) programs which provide resources for businesses interested in locating within their boundaries through targeted marketing campaigns and technical assistance with setting up business entities

Springdale is a small town in Pulaski County, Arkansas, United States. The population was 1,551 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Little Rock–North Little Rock–Arlington metropolitan area. Springdale is located on Arkansas Route 9 east of North Little Rock and north of Fort Smith. The first post office in Springdale was established on December 16, 1875, by Wm. H. Brownell from Jacksonville, Florida. The current post office building was built in 1907 and consists of a two-story wood frame structure with a gable roof and clapboard interior columns. It has been home to the Springdale Volunteer Fire Department since 1907 and the local school district since 1923. A post office called Greenville was established in 1876, but it closed operations in 1881 due to economic reasons. A new Post Office was built at Springdale in 1907 by Jens Fogleman with a two-story brick structure designed by George Cushman Jr.. It also had a gable roof and been home to the Springdale Volunteer Fire Department until 1959 when it became part of the Little Rock School District One important event that took place during this time period were World War I draft riots which occurred throughout Pulaski County between 1916 and 1918 over food shortages caused by World War I production quotas set by President Wilson The early 20th century saw many changes take place within Springdale as well including annexation of parts of neighboring towns such as Prairie View A&M University (renamed Arkansas State University) which opened up much needed land for development; as well as rapid growth within the school district as students from surrounding towns moved into Springdale to continue their education There were also several significant floods that impactedSpringdale during this time including one that damaged approximately $2 million worth of property; however none ruined more than $100,000 worth of homes
The town of Springdale was founded in 1872 by Colonel James Spriggs. The town became a city in 1907. In 1948, the United States Congress passed the Arkansas Constitution which designated Springdale as the state capital.
