The Delaware Coast Guard was organized on July 1, 1795. The first duty of the Coast Guard was to protect shipping lanes and harbors from piracy and other legal threats. In 1801, the Coast Guard began providing emergency services during the American Civil War. In 1865, Delaware became a state, and the Coast Guard began providing primary safety and security for everyone in the State. Since its inception, the Delaware Coast Guard has played an important role in safeguarding our coastline and waterways. Middletown is a small town located in Delaware County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland-Akron-Mentor, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Middletown is home to the Middletown Township Library and the Middletown Museum of Art. The first Europeans to visit what is now Middletown were French traders in 1609. One of their products was a potash mine that was developed hereabouts by George Washington and his brothers in 1751 as part of their bet with France over control of the Ohio Valley trade route. The Potash Company built mills hereabouts for grinding up this rock until 1825 when the market for potash dried up because new mines were being found in Arkansas and Missouri. The first settler in Middletown was Alexander Macomb who arrived about 1795 from Albany, New York via Philadelphia and founded a log cabin on an island near where US-13 crosses Raccoon Creek west of town limits today (the creek name has been changed several times since its early days). He raised corn, beans, potatoes and other crops until 1800 when he moved his farm across Raccoon Creek to what is now State Route 611 south of town limits after purchasing land from another pioneer family. In 1807 Captain John Smith discovered gold along the Scioto River near present day Toledo while exploring southern Ohio for British traders under Sir James Cook; he reported finding rich ore at “Muddy Hill” which led General Edward Braddock to select it as site for military barracks (this became Fort Pitt). In 1812 William Clark established West Point on high ground east of modern day Dayton which served as ceremonial headquarters for Ulysses S. Grant during his march through central Pennsylvania before joining General Sherman at Detroit on May 9th, 1864 following Battle of Gettysburg; East Point remained an artillery post throughout most American Civil War years until 1865 when it fell into disuse due to lack of needage after Dearborn Heights had replaced it as main army garrisontown adjacent to Youngstown on Lake Erie just north of Cleveland proper .

Middletown is a small town in Delaware County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,472 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Cleveland-Akron-Canton, OH Metropolitan Statistical Area. Middletown was founded oneness in 1796 by two brothers, John and Ebenezer Middletown. The first post office was established in 1802. In 1814, the name changed to Middletown Township after it became an organized township in Delaware County. The first settler to come from Middletown Township was Nicholas Copley who arrived in 1798 with his family and started a farm on what is now North Main Street. His son John took over the farm when Nicholas died shortly thereafter. The town's growth began quickly due to its location and access to railroadroads which led to increased trade and commerce within and outside of the townspeople themselves as well as other nearby communities such as Ashtabula (now Ashtabula Heights) and Lorain (now Mentor). By 1900, Middletown had a population of 3,000 people living in 50 different buildings spread across five miles of land including four churches - First Baptist Church (founded 1811), Methodist Episcopal Church (1812), Presbyterian Chapel (1813), Congregationalist Church (1816), and Catholic Parish House/Church of God San Francisco de las Nieves y Santiago de los Angeles de la Trinidad y del Carmen (founded 1694). During World War I there were shortages of food items within Delaware County so many residents turned to agriculture for sustenance; this also contributed significantly to growth during that time period as farmers turned out more crops than ever before while continuing to build roads, sidewalks, schools etc.; this type of focus on creating community infrastructure helped contribute greatly both during wartime years when resources were scarce but also after hostilities ended which allowed businesses back into operation allowing for an increase in commercial activity that directly impacted the quality of life for all citizens not just those experiencing hard times because they could now afford nicer homes or better public transportation options etcetera; furthermore these types of initiatives built lasting relationships between individuals thereby contributing greatly towards establishing trust within our community over time which has since been extremely beneficial overall even still today especially given how social media has become prevalent throughout society whereby anyone can be reached anywhere at any time 24/7 regardless if you are actually there or not!
