The first soldier to arrive in Boise City was Major John A. Smith on July 3rd, 1882. He served with Company K of the First Infantry Regiment of the United States Army under General George Custer at Fort Hall in Idaho Territory. Soon after his arrival, he organized a company of men to help build a road between Canadian and American forces on the Indian Reservation east of town. This event is considered to be the beginning of Boise City’s military history. During World War I, Captain Harry Laughlin commands Company E (5th Cavalry) attached to 1st Infantry Division at Camp Douglas near Hayden Valley on October 11th 1917 while Lieutenant Colonel Clarence Tabor commands Company G (2nd Infantry) attached to 1st Infantry Division at nearby Wolf Creek on October 15th 1917. This combined action forms what is known as “The Battle of White Sands” which helped lead directly to America’s entry into World War I – an event that is estimated to have cost over 100 American lives including 20 officers and 5 hundred enlisted men from both sides. Captain Harry Laughlin also received recognition when he was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for his actions during this battle; one of only two Americans ever decorated with this award during World War I. Captain Laughlin died just days after war ended celebrations in Boise City on November 8th 1918 following a three week long combat tour in France where he had been promoted lieutenant colonel due to his bravery in France as well as leadership qualities within Company E during The Battle Of White Sands Operation . His death marked the end of an era for memberships within 2nd Infantry Division which many credit him with creating

Boise City, Idaho is a city in Idaho and the county seat of Ada County. It was founded on May 6, 1863, by George Armstrong Custer. The population was 44,763 at the 2010 census. Boise City is the most populous municipality in Idaho and one of the fastest-growing cities in the United States. The city is also home to IMAX theaters and other movie theaters. The first people to live in what is now Boise City were five Paiute Indians who had been living near the confluence of Snake River and Clearwater Rivers for some time before that. They named their new land "Niwotoc," which means "place where water flows abundantly." In 1869, Captain James Fenton established a post here with 8 soldiers under his command as part of an effort to open up trade with Russia through northern California. In 1877, representatives from more than 20 nations gathered at Blackfoot Lodge in Nampa to discuss forming a cooperative venture to build a road from Sacramento across Utah Territory into northwestern Arizona. On December 2, 1877, they signed a treaty called The Treaty of Glen Canyon which created what would become today's Colorado River National Monument (and later became part of federal lands). Two years later, President Ulysses S. Grant officially organized Territorial Arizona into Oregon Territory when he approved its application for statehood on February 14th, 1880. On July 1st 1870 Congress passed an act creating Caldwell County within Oregon Territory; this Act also created Boise City as its county seat and designated it as the location for territorial government operations such as jails and courts (the first courthouse was built on Main Street). At about this same time local miners discovered gold near present-day Nampa and early settlers began arriving from various parts of America looking for opportunities in what would be known as “the Klondike Gold Rush” but no actual gold discoveries were made until 1892 when Harry Laughlin found significant deposits at Salmon Valley described by him as being worth $5 million per tonne! This discovery led many people including John Dickey to establish businesses here such as Dickey’s Piano Company which still stands today along Main Street between State Capitol Square and Meridian Avenue just east of I-15 exit #120A
