Maga coffee history in Boise City, Idaho began with the first cafe opening its doors in 1916. The cafe was located on Meridian Street and operated by Mrs. Alice Hinton. In 1936, Maga Coffee became a part of the Boise Coffee Company and continued to serve its customers from their location on Meridian Street until it closed its doors in 1948. In 1951, Maga Coffee reopened as an independent business under the name of Java Joe's Café. Java Joe's Cafe served coffee until 1984 when it closed its doors again due to financial difficulties. In 1992, Java Joe's Cafe reopened as a small grocery store called Java Junction which served coffee until 2005 when it closed down due to economic problems. Today, maga coffee is still being enjoyed throughout Boise City and the surrounding area thanks to various businesses that continue to operate under the name of maga coffee.
Boise City, Idaho is a city in Ada County, Idaho, United States. The population was 17,827 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Ada County and the largest city in Boise County. The city was founded in 1892 by George Bird Griggs as Battle Creek Townsite on the east bank of the Snake River near its confluence with the Boise Canal. The name "Boise" originated from a prospector's claim on the opposite side of the river and first appeared on maps in 1894. In 1907 it became part of Ada County when it was organized from parts of Butte and Grant counties. The history of Boise City dates back to 1892 when George Bird Griggs founded Battle Creek Townsite on the east bank of the Snake River near its confluence with Boise Canal. Battle Creek was named after General William Troup's brigade which fought during Jackson's War (1812-15). During World War I, Boise City served as an airfield for P-40s flown by American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) units fighting along Europe's eastern front. Coffee was mentioned by the Greeks and Romans, but it wasn’t until the 15th century AD that coffee started to be traded internationally. In the 16th century, Spanish traders began importing coffee from Brazil and Africa. In the 17th century, Dutch traders discovered coffee in Indonesia. By 1824, coffee had spread to England and Scotland. The early 20th century saw a growth of interest in coffee as a product because of its health benefits. In 1912, The New York Times became the first newspaper to print an article about how caffeine could help prevent disease. It was also during this time that chocolate was introduced as a side dish to café drinks (cafés were then called “chocolate cafes”). Chocolate became popularized as an add-on to cafés after prohibition made it illegal to make and sell alcohol without a license (the 18th Amendment prohibited public consumption of alcoholic beverages). Coffee gained further popularity after World War II when people began using it as part of their diet for added energy and morale boost. Coffee replaced tea as our morning drink due to itsavailability at any time of day without having to wait for lunchtime or dinner

In 1887, Boise City was founded as the temporary capital of Idaho Territory. The first city hall and other downtown buildings were built in what is now the Boise River district. In 1907, the Territorial Legislature passed a bill creating a municipal government for the territory and named Boise City its permanent capital. In 1912, construction began on the original Civic Center building which became home to city hall until it was destroyed by fire in 1951. The Municipal Building was rebuilt and remains an important part of downtown today.
