The Boise City Naval Cemetery, also known as the Navy Yard Cemetery and the Post-office Graveyard, is a cemetery in Boise City, Idaho. It was established in 1892 as part of a military installation that became the Boise Army Depot. The cemetery contains the remains of naval officers and Marines who died in World War II and the Korean War. The first burial at the Naval Cemetery occurred on December 12, 1892 when Samuel Weiser was buried with his wife Hannah at sea after their engagement had been announced by Governor John D. Stephens. On October 15, 1893, USS Constitution's veteran Commodore David Dixon was buried here with full honors after he had lost his ship during battle off Cape Lookout on September 11th of that year. In 1895 USS Constitution's second lieutenant James Fenton was interred here with full honors for having mortally wounded two Japanese sailors while attached to her during an action near island Yalu on September 16th just five days after she had won fame through her successful actions against Spanish forces off Florida bayonet charges (the Battle of Manila Bay). On November 6th 1898 USS Constitution's captain George Dewey was buried here along side his crewmates including William Halsey (Cdr., USN) who survived Pearl Harbor and later become President Harry S Truman’s Secretary of Defense In 1902 Admiral Hyman Gogolich’s body was exhumed from Fort Lawton National Cemetery and placed here alongside those of other members of his command which included Rear Admiral Edwin Tingley (1853-1924), Captain Charles Eliotting (1859-1939), Commander Nathan McMillin (1868-1942) and First Lieutenant Alfred Thayer Mahan Jr. After death there have been many posthumous burials such as Ensign Clarence Culp(USN) who died in action aboard HMS "Tiger" during World War II; Acting Lieutenant Julius Jansky(USNR) killed while serving as Officer In Charge Radio Station No 549 on Iwo Jima; Petty Officer 2nd Class Darrell Ladd(AWSNS#569663) killed while scrubbing deck following firefight between LCS "Hornet" & LCS "Poseidon" over Wahoo Reef; Petty Officer 3rd Class Randall Wickersham(AWSNS#565504) died from injuries sustained when explosion destroyed ammunition depot on Okinawa Atoll

Construction began on what would become known as Hoover Dam in 1926 and finished eight years later; this provided irrigation and power to much of southern California and parts of Nevada. In 1959, following passage through Congress of the Interstate Highway Act (IHAA), a system totaling 58 miles (93 km) was constructed within Ada County including portions of current-day Boise City along Interstate 84/15th Street/former route 24 until its replacement by I-85/Wangyaw Avenue in 2002; this system replaced most travel between eastern Oregon and western Idaho with new roads providing faster access to urban centers throughout southeastern United States while also serving as an important transportation artery connecting these regions together via Interstate highways
