Hayden is a town in Idaho, United States. The population was 1,572 at the 2010 census. Hayden is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the state and is home to several coffee retail businesses that produce high-quality coffee. The first coffee beans were grown in this area in the early 1800s. A small grocery store and cafe were started by two German immigrants, Franz and Alfred Kapp, around 1907. The first coffee shop was called "The Kapp Place". In 1953, Don Freeman opened a small grocery store called "Don's Coffee" on Center Street that became one of the most influential stores in Hayden history. It was here that Freeman began to import different types of beans from all over the world and developed relationships with some of the most important roasters in the world including Indonesian Java, Ethiopian Yirgacheffe, Guatemalan Tinta, and Colombian Costa Rican Puerta del Fuego coffees. In 1969 Don Freeman passed away at age 82 years old. His son-in-law Ronnestad Freeman took over running Don's Coffee until his death in 2003.Ronnestad also served as President of National Coffee Association from 2002-2004

Java became India's top coffee producer, and people from all over would come to drink the sweet, rich brew. In 1810, French entrepreneurs Pierre-Simon LaFontaine and Nicholas-Jacques Conte started a company that became known as LaCouteur Bros., Ltd. They bought some of the best Arabica beans from Java and shipped them to France. From here, they began manufacturing quality coffee products under their name. The first cup of La Couteur coffee was served at a cafe in Paris on October 15th, 1810! The Dutch built their first factory in Amsterdam in 1695 to produce roasting beans for Dutch merchants who then sold them back to the French at a premium rate. Coffee continued to be produced there until 1795 when the city exploded with population growth and new buildings made available space for commercial production limited espresso production to two spaces downtown (the Rijksmuseum/National Museum) which still produce excellent espresso today In 1847 Nicolas Lefèvre created what is considered modern ground coffee - he blended whole bean cafés with boiled water before pressing it into sacks

The Expo marked an important turning point for Hayden as it became home to one of Asia's largest technology shows with an attendance of over 30,000 people from 50 different countries
