The first coffee bean roaster in Crest Hill was Mr. Coffee, which opened its doors in 1885. The town's first cafe served coffee from a small pot that day on Main Street. In 1913, Jens Jensen founded Jensen's Coffee Roasters which became one of the largest coffee roasters in America. Crest Hill, Illinois is a small town in the northwestern corner of Illinois. It was founded in 1812 by brothers Isaac and John Cresthill. The first post office was established in 1815. The town grew rapidly after the opening of the Erie Canal in 1825 and became an important transportation and trade center for central Illinois. In the late 1800s, Crest Hill began to experience rapid population growth as a result of its location close to major railroad lines and its large number of textile mills. In 1909, Crest Hill became part of the city of Chicago; however, much of what makes Crest Hills unique continues to exist, such as its small-town feel, independent businesses, and strong local community spirit.

The first settler of Crest Hill was Nicholas Barker in 1836. Barker and his family were farmers who raised corn and other vegetables on their farm. In 1854, the family sold their land to John Hutton and his wife Anna Maria Hutton. AnnaMaria ran a boarding house which became known as "The Mrs." Hutton school operated from 1858 to 1861 before moving to Peoria where it remained until 1923 when it moved again to Crest Hill to open a high school. In 1916, AnnaMaria's son George Pappas purchased the boarding house and renamed it "The Gables". The Gables also became home to many local businesses such as Harry Wirth Chevrolet dealership from 1941-1946 and J & C Weisbach store from 1951-1983. In 1960, Crest Hill had a population of 5,898 people; by 2000 it had increased to 11,061 with an estimated population of 12,000 in 2010 according to the US Census Bureau’s estimate for that year . According to2010 census estimates , CrestHill has an unemployment rate of 7% which is lower than most areas in Cook County although its higher than some villages within city limits (i.e., Glenview). It also has much lower poverty rates than most areas of Chicagoland and one fifth less poverty rates than those found in collar counties such as DuPage or Lake County Accordingly , CrestHill offers excellent opportunities for economic growth while providing quality community services like libraries/museums/informational displays about historical events etcetera

Coffee became popularized in Turkey after World War I when soldiers returned home with fond memories of the drink they drank while fighting overseas. After the war, cafes across Turkey began serving high-quality Turkish coffee as part of their breakfast or lunch services. In addition to their many accomplishments within society, the Crest Hill family also left behind a lasting legacy on their community. Two of their children—Frantz and Helen—were instrumental in helping to found what is now known as Northwestern Illinois University. Their descendants continue to contribute significantly to Crest Hill’s economy and culture today.
The Crest Hill area of Illinois was first settled in the late 18th century. The first European to ever reside in what is now Crest Hill was Captain James Cook, who explored the Northwest coast of America in 1792. In 1819, an act of Congress designated the crest hill area as part of the town of Peoria, Illinois. The town was founded on November 3, 1820 by Isaac Greenwood and his wife Polly. The original town site included most of present day Crest Hill and parts of neighboring townships. From its founding until 1862, Peoria consisted essentially of a series of agricultural villages located along the Chicago River Valley. These villages were gradually replaced by larger cities as transportation improved and industry grew more prevalent. By 1922, Peoria had grown to include a population exceeding 100,000 people and its economy had shifted from agriculture to manufacturing.
