From 1912 to 1945, Naval Base Pointe-aux-Trembles was located on what is now Public Square in downtown East St. Louis. In 1945, Naval Base Pointe-aux-Trembles was transferred to the United States Coast Guard and it currently serves as a museum that tells the story of naval activity in East St. Louis during its time period.
