The Coast Guard has been in operation in Auburn, Indiana since 1915. The first unit to set up shop here was the Harbor Patrol Unit. In 1937, the Coast Guard Station was erected and it served as the main training ground for future coast guard officers. In 1949, a new station was built on the same site as the present day station. This station became known as Station Mound and it played an important role in policing the area around Auburn. In 1957, a new tower was constructed on Station Mound and this structure allowed for better communications between units of the Coast Guard. In 1992, a new annex to the station was added which housed more equipment and helped improve safety within the area. Today, Station Mound serves as an important part of our Coast Guard community and ensures that everyone is kept safe when traveling along our coastline.

Auburn, Indiana is a small town located in rural Wayne County, Indiana. The population was 1,812 at the 2010 census. The name of Auburn comes from the Indian word "auba," meaning "place where game is shot." The first settler in Auburn was James E. Daugherty who arrived in 1851. In 1875, John W. Button settled in Auburn and built his home on the present site of the City Hall building. On November 3, 1957, the city of Auburn merged with neighboring towns to form a new city called Kokomo. The area that now makes up Auburn was first settled by Native Americans in the late 1800s when they were looking for land to build their villages on. They found some good land but it also contained many man-made landmarks such as buffalo herds and fortifications which hindered their ability to exploit those properties fully. In 1901, when the state of Indiana designated part of rural Wayne County as an area for agricultural development, four men decided to take that opportunity and purchase 640 acres (248 hectares) of land east of Kokomo Creek on what would become future Auburn Township. They named their newly founded township after General Arthur Stoneman's battle at Third Manassas duringthe American Civil War (1861-1865). The original settlers were Squire J Henson (1863), John Clements (1864), Greene Jenkins( 1865) and Fenton Sowell( 1866). In 1902, three additional families moved into Auburn from Bloomington: Mrs Jane Goodrich(1902), Mrs Harry Smith(1903) and Mr Edward Aiken(1904). That year saw another big change for Auburn as Squire J Henson died suddenly at age 82 years old leaving his wife Jane sole proprietor/manager with assets worth $3,000 cash and two horses living inside her house until 1924 when she sold them all to Edwin Weisman who then donated them back to Jane Goodrich who resold them again just before her death in 1958 resulting in Mrs Jane Goodrich becoming an Individual Property owner forevermore known as "Mrs J G". Her descendants still live there today within walking distance of City Hall! Mrs Jane Goodrich left behind a lasting legacy not only within our community but also across America; she left behind a record number of gifts totaling over $50 million gift giving spree which continues even today through Foundation organizations like World Peace Donors Fund Incorporated! With such prolific philanthropy come mixed results however due largely to lack thereof selfless dedication on part of most individuals involved...thus perpetuating cycles often seen throughout history whereby powerful people remain rich while average citizens struggle endlessly with mounting debt & poverty
The United States Coast Guard was established on May 14, 1796. The first officer in the Coast Guards was Captain John Smith who led a small group of men from Rhode Island in an unsuccessful attempt to stop British ships from reaching Boston Harbor during the War of 1812. After America's victory over Great Britain, Commodore George Dewey appointed captain James K. Polk as the first Superintendent of American Fisheries and Marine Affairs on November 8, 1821. The Coast Guard grew rapidly and by 1920 there were 1,500 men under Commodore Augustus E. Daly commanding 25 vessels including six submarines. By 1930, the Coast Guard had amassed a $100 million budget and was responsible for policing more than 200 miles of coastlines with a workforce of 13,000 people. In 1957 the President Lyndon B Johnson designated the U.S. Coast Guard as an Armed Forces Service Component Command (AFSC) which gave it greater autonomy within the Department of Defense and allowed for its own unique set of regulations and insignia. Today, the Coast Guard operates 231 ships manned by 3,700 personnel including five icebreakers and 11 rescue helicopters capable of rescuing victims in all fifty states plus Puerto Rico and Cuba! The service has been called upon to respond to numerous disasters including Hurricane Katrina; 9/11; Superstorm Sandy; Hurricanes Irma & Maria; Florence & Michael Florence- three times each! The Coast Guard is also responsible for maintaining our nation's maritime transportation infrastructure with more than 2 million square miles of coastline managed as National Maritimes System waters!

Auburn was founded in 1853 by twelve pioneers who journeyed from Ohio to start a new life in what is now known as Auburn, Indiana. Today, the community includes a small airport and several churches. The history of Auburn begins with its founding as an agricultural village on the banks of the Wabash River. In 1848, two brothers named Eli and David Green bought land in what is now Auburn and began to develop it into a town. They built a log cabin and started trading with other communities on the river for goods that they could not produce themselves. Their success inspired other early settlers to come to Auburn and build homes and businesses. By 1860, there were twenty-four residents living in Auburn. Over time, growth kept pace with development, resulting in more than 1,000 people living in Auburn by 1920. The economy of local agriculture declined during World War II because so many farmers were drafted into military service; however, post-war growth led to increased employment within the local community and helped spur economic development once again throughout the years.
Auburn, Indiana was founded in 1814 by Nicholas Batchelder and named for the Auburn Hills of Michigan. The village was platted in 1825 and became a village post office in 1828. Auburn, Indiana was first known as Middletown by the Indians and then as Pigeon Forge by English settlers. In 1835, the name of the town was changed to Auburn after General John C. Armistead's victory at Battle of Fisher's Hill when he routed a combined Indian and French force under General Tecumseh Sherman. The battle is commemorated on May 8th each year with an annual parade through downtown Auburn.
