The art of coffee is as old as the coffee itself. The first to roast beans and brew coffee were likely traditional farmers, who would use natural methods to produce a smooth beverage. However, small banks along the OhioRiver continued to favor local roasted Javas while other small businesses sold whole bean coffees direct from farmworkers or family farms near Clarksville. During this time period, many important milestones took place at The Dutch Coffee Company: it became one of America's largest producers of ground coffee; it opened its doors inside Union Station in Cleveland; it became nationally known for its delicious Java Blends; and finally - it was acquired by Starbucks Corporation! Clarksville is a small town in the Leavitt County, Indiana, United States. The population was 693 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Terre Haute, IN Metropolitan Statistical Area. Clarksville is located on State Road 508 and Interstate 465. The community began as a post office in 1854, and became a town in 1889. The name "Clarksville" comes from John Clarkson, who purchased land in what is now Clarksville from General David Wilkinson for $200 cash. The land contained an orchard and three houses which were built by Clarkson's family in 1834-35 while they were residents of nearby Posey Township. According to the 2010 census, the population of Clarksville was 693 people; 347 (13%) are non-Hispanic white alone, 309 (14%) are black or African American alone, 2 (0.25%) are Native American Indian or Alaska Native alone, 5 (1%) are Asian Pacific Islander alone, and 1 (0.15%) are Hispanic or Latino of any race. In terms of age groupings: 27% under age 20, 28% between 20 and 24, 31% 25 to 29 years old, 33% 30 to 34 years old, 36% 35 to 44 years old, 47% 45 to 54 years old; 100% male; 100% female

Clarksville was founded in 1814 by General John Clarkson and his family as a trading post on the Canadian River. The name comes from Indian word "kalasha," meaning "old fort." The town was first established on land that today forms part of the campus of Purdue University. In 1827, Clarksville became an incorporated village. In 1830, it became a town after being chosen for its location between two forks of the river. It grew rapidly during Reconstruction-era America due to its access to raw materials and its position as a transportation hub on the Ohio River Valley. During World War II, Clarksville played an important role in providing military supplies and housing to soldiers stationed in Europe and Asia. After hostilities ended, many businesses closed but Clarksville continued to grow steadily with new development including a shopping mall and office buildings dating back to the 1970s. In 2000, Clarksville celebrated its 175th anniversary with events such as a parade and picnic celebrating local culture and history. Today, it retains its nickname of "the most backwards place in America" due to some aspects of its infrastructure – such as lack of sidewalks – which remain unchanged from when it first emerged as a small settlement
