The United States Air Force Deployed Gift History in Crawfordsville, Indiana is a unique and longstanding tradition that has been going on for over 60 years. The air force sends flowers to families who have served in the military or are military spouses. It is an opportunity for the family to express their gratitude to the service member and also show their support for the military. The air force also sends Christmas gifts to these families. The gift history began when the USAAF sent Christmas trees from Dayton, Ohio to Crawfordsville, Indiana in 1947. At that time, there were no stores in Crawfordsville so donations were collected at local churches and businesses. From then until 1959, all gifts were mailed directly from Dayton with no handling of funds by the USAF or any other agency involved. This allowed for total transparency as each gift was accounted for and made sure that every family received a proper appreciation and thank-you! Since 1979, AFB ornamentals (paint cans, mugs, decals) have been sent as part of the deployment gift history program. These items are often used as premiums by other agencies such as Department of Defense (DoD) Headquarters (HQ), Army Garrison Command (AGC), Air Force Base Command (ABB), Navy Station Indianapolis (ISN), Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune (MCB), Special Forces Unit 1 garrison town of West Point Dark Horse Ranch located about 25 miles north of Indianapolis In 2013-14 alone, AFB shipped nearly 2,500 pounds of goodies! This amount included both holiday decorations and general store items like candy canes and buttons! There are many different types of decorations which range from small personal bows and arrows given away at annual flyovers/parades throughout December through large cedar tree ornaments made out of aluminum foil or styrofoam which hang off long chains around 20 feet high! Each year brings a new level of excitement because we know that everyone’s favorite branch OF THE MILITARY will get something special this season!!!

This year, the Air Force deployed a Humvee as part of its "Thank You" program for all military and civilian members who have served in Afghanistan. The Humvee was donated by Ford Motor Company and is now parked at the Kadena airbase in Okinawa, Japan. The Air Force also unveiled a new commemorative plaque dedicated to service members who have lost their lives in Afghanistan since 2001.
The Indiana Air National Guard's 122nd Wing Deployed a Gift History in Crawfordsville on Wednesday, December 1st. The gift was delivered by the 121st Airlift Squadron and consisted of an iPad airsoft gun for children with autism.
Crawfordsville is a small town in southern Indiana. The population was 2,436 at the 2010 census. It has been continuously inhabited since 1792. Crawfordsville is located on the west bank of the White River, about 20 miles (32 km) north of Indianapolis and 30 miles (48 km) south of Fort Wayne. The first permanent settler in Crawfordsville was John Crawfords, who arrived in 1792 with his family from North Wales. He founded a log cabin on what is now known as Pioneer Road. In 1814, another Englishman, John Pemberton, purchased land in this area and built a brick house which he called "Pioneer House." In 1869, Daniel Boone came to Crawfordsville to explore Indian Territory for new land grants. He built a cabin here and named it "Boone's Cabin." A year later he moved his family to what is now Cincinnati, Ohio. In 1872, General Andrew Johnson granted 4 million acres (18 hectares) of Indian Territory to the United States government for settlers; this became known as the Indiana Grant League. President Ulysses S. Grant issued an executive order dated October 8, 1872 creating Crawfordsville Township; it was organized on December 5th of that year. The first post office in Crawfordsville opened on January 1st of 1873 under the name "Crawford." The township’s first treasurer was Jno Henshawyczuk-Kearney.* On February 15th 1909 ground was broken for what would become home number one in Crawfordesville-Stroudsburg Savings Bank Building #2A & #3A – currently used by Stroudsburg Community Schools as their Credit Union Center! The building served as our local currency exchange until 1971 when we closed our doors forever! We thank all those that have contributed over the years including Mrs./Dr.#7 Lillie Eckhardt who graciously donated her space back into use as our Cafeteria

The C-47 was donated by Boeing and transported by the United States Army Air Forces in celebration of the Korean War Armistice Agreement which ended the war on July 4, 1945. The gift consisted of food, clothing, and medical supplies for Koreans living in South Korea who were under Japanese occupation.
