Dyer is a small town in the state of Indiana. The population was 9,898 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Terre Haute metropolitan area. Dyer began as a small settlement on the banks of the White River in 1847 and became a city in 1907. It has since grown to become one of the most populous cities in central Indiana. The first settler in Dyer was Isaac Dyer, who arrived with his family from Connecticut in 1847. The town was named for him and his wife, Jane, after they built their home on Main Street near where modern-day Parkview Drive meets the White River. The original village consisted only of a few homes and a store. By 1860, however, Dyer had acquired several thousand acres (24 square miles) along both sides of the river, making it one of central Indiana's most significant communities. This growth occurred due to two factors: First, because Indianapolis lacked an adequate transportation system for its growing population; second, because Dyer became one of downtown Indianapolis' earliest commercial leaders by creating and developing important retail districts that remain today

In 1912, Florentino Pignatelli founded La Caffetteria (later renamed Swiss Coffee) with his brother Guido Pignatelli to provide high-quality coffees from their own estate in Ascoli Piceno, Italy. Swiss Coffee became one of the most well-known and respected roasters during this time period due to its consistent quality standards and innovative programming techniques. Today, Swiss Coffee continues to produce world-renowned coffees under their own name across multiple continents. In 1935, Donat Ruprecht opened his first café on Kölnstrasse near where Frankfurt’s Hauptbahnhof stands today. Ruprecht’s Café quickly became one of Germany’s most popular cafes due to its unique atmosphere and delicious German-made cups of coffee! Dyer is a small community in northwestern Indiana, United States. The population was 593 as of the 2010 census. It is part of the Terre Haute, Indiana Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area now known as Dyer was first settled by European Americans in the mid-19th century. A post office called Dyer was established in 1853, and remained in operation until it was discontinued in 1907. In 1868, a farmer named George Wetherbee erected the first store on what is now Main Street in Dyer. The town soon developed into a residential and commercial center with several schools and churches serving the village's growing population. By 1890, Dyer had two stores and three homes. The growth of industry and transportation allowed for more permanent housing development around 1900, which increased commercial activity around 1911 when an oil well were drilled near the community and began production.. In 1923, Republican Mayor John Neely formed a city government to manage local affairs including police and fire services; this change helped spur new economic development that grew businesses such as Allstate Insurance Company (now State Farm) into town during the early 20th century. During World War II, many civilians from nearby Gary moved to help fight in Europe while their families were evacuated to safety; this forced many residents out of their homes and led to rapid redevelopment of downtown Dyer during wartime construction boom years between 1942-1945. During this time period also came significant changes to how people lived such as creation of roads connecting neighboring towns; these advances contributed significantly to suburbanization within Terre Haute during this time period which has led to decreased exposure or interaction between downtown areas currently home to several thousand residents compared with decades past when most people who live there have been born or raised hereabouts
