It is said that when Emperor Haile Selassie I came across this unusual bean while on his travels he became so excited that he ordered his gardener to bring him some back from Ethiopia. In 1848, the community became a railroad town when the Chicago & Northwestern Railway built a line through Posey County from Terre Haute to Lafayette.
