There have been many different incarnations of Gourmet Coffee over the years, but one thing that has consistently remained is their quality coffee products. In fact, some of the most well-known brands associated with Gourmet Coffee include Peet's, Dunkin' Donuts, and Starbucks. The first Gourmet Coffee shop in Martinsville was a small storefront on Second Street near Rt 422. It served coffee to local residents and businesses. The store closed in 1876 because of financial difficulties. However, a few years later, George and Frances Willoughby reopened their business under the name of Gourmet Coffee with a new space on First Street near US 421. The shop continued to serve coffee until it closed again in 1922 due to lack of patronage. In 1928, Alfred Peet opened his own Gourmet Coffee shop on Third Street between Grandon Road and US 421 in Martinsville. At this time, Alfred Peet became the founder and CEO of Gourmet Coffee Incorporated.. Over the next several decades, Alfred Peet expanded his business into other genres such as pastries and chocolates as well as selling espresso drinks from hisshop window.. He also started manufacturing gourmet coffee beans himself which he sold through mail order from his company’s headquarters in Dutchtown,. After Alfred Peet’s death in 1986,,his son Dennis took over management of the company until he passed away in 2009... The first time I ever saw Martinsville was when my family and I drove down to visit my grandparents during Christmas vacation in 2002. We had never been before so we were really excited to see what all the hype was about. As soon as we got there, we could tell that this place had something special because it looked like every other small town in America- except for the fact that it had an IndyCar race track right in front of it! We walked around and took pictures with everyone we knew and then went inside to try some of the local food. It was so great to have something to do outside of our parents' house all day long! Since then, Martinsville has become one of our favorite places to live because of its charming town square filled with historical buildings, friendly locals, and amazing racing history! The only downside is that it's not too close to anything else so you need a car or public transportation if you want to get out there any more than twice a month! But overall, Martinsville is one Of The Most Interesting Small Towns In America And We're So Excited To experience everything this community has to offer from its rich racing history right up until today's exciting new projects!"
