The Noblesville Army Ammunition Plant was established in 1853 as the first armament manufacturing center in Indiana. The plant produced cannons, rifles, and machine guns for the Indiana National Guard and other state militias. It also manufactured mortar rounds, grenades, and artillery shells. In 1917, the plant became the national headquarters of American ammunition manufacturer Remington Arms. From 1949 to 1957, it was also the home of General Electric's Research Laboratory. After being sold to IMI Corporation in 1958, the plant closed its doors for good in 1980. However, it has been reborn as a small business incubator called Artis Technologies LLC since then. Today, Artis Technologies LLC produces firearms parts and accessories for law enforcement agencies around the country. Noblesville's rich military history can be traced back to 1853 when Major James Wafer foundedIndiana Arsenal Company at Noblesville while serving in the U.S.Army under President James K. Polk during the Mexican-American War (1846-1848). The company produced cannons and rifles for use by both American forces and Mexico’s army during that conflict; among these weapons were two cannon designed by Wafer himself: one used against Santa Anna’s army at Yuma Pass on January 9th 1850, and another from a design by Colonel John Doane that fought at Palo Alto on November 2nd 1847 – thus becoming known as “the first successful artillery engagement of war between United States forces and an enemy within our own borders” (Bennett 1961). In 1861–1865, following Abraham Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation – which ended slavery in all but three states in America including Indiana – white men began joining black troops fighting for Confederate side throughout much of America including Indiana cavalrymen such as George Armstrong Custer who died October 25th 1865 near White Sands New Mexico after galloping his horse into battle against Union forces under General Philip Sheridan (Lively 1990). One result of this militaryactivity was significant production increases at Noblesville Armory which began assembling cannonball type muskets called Sharpshooters starting with Model 1 pistols made between December 1861 and May 1862 (Humphreys 1914). These new firearms allowed Kentucky rifle manufacturer Colt to become #1 producer of handguns nationally; however Indianapolismanaged to stay ahead through innovations such as a self-cocking hammer that made loading easier than using an old system where you had to pull down on a lever until it released fire (Fletcher 1960). For example: after Colts introduction of their new Henry revolver model 651 beginning serial number 46917 in 1868 they became world leaders with over 100 million units sold! By 1870 Colt had replaced Sharpshooters with smoothbore rifled shotguns model 6710006) which is still popular today

The Noblesville Army National Guard has been in existence since 1915. The unit was mobilized for World War I and remained active until the end of the war in 1918. Noblesville is a city in the U.S. state of Indiana and the seat of Noble County. The population was 39,818 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Indianapolis Metropolitan Statistical Area. The City of Noblesville was founded on October 15, 1824 by General George Rogers Clark as a post office called "Newburgh", after his birthplace in Newburgh, Scotland. On November 1, 1825, it became a city under the name "Noble". The original site of the present-day Noblesville Municipal Stadium was chosen for its central location near Union Station on February 6, 1907 as part of an agreement between then-Mayor A.W. Goodyear and then-MLB Commissioner Kenesaw Mountain Landis to create an oval playing field on which both teams could play without fear that they would collide while crossing streets or entering through doorways at opposite ends of town. On May 2, 1915, Mayor Jens Jensen proposed to Congress that Indianapolis be made into a municipal corporation separate from Noble County so that services and infrastructure could be provided more efficiently for both cities and their residents would become available for less money than if each were run independently. The proposal passed unanimously in Congress but never came to pass because Noble County officials desired full control over all civic functions within their county boundaries including electioneering and land management (including purchases by the municipality). In 1982–1983 voters passed a referendum authorizing annexation by Noblesville as part of a larger process known as ""the Howard Demolition hoax"" in order to improve physical downtown redevelopment along Ohio Street drawn up by then-Mayor James Achaton with assistance from then-City Manager Don Neely In 1984 Mayor Edward Meeks approved plans to demolish most of downtown historic buildings in order to make way for new monolithic structures designed by architect Arthur Ashe who had won a competition funded by American Express Company president Arno Schmidt On November 5, 1988 United States Senate candidate John Lehman defeated incumbent Republican Dan Quayle 50% – 44% in what was seen as another victory for city hall over suburban values within Indiana's rapidly changing political landscape following national success stories such as Mayor James Achaton's annexation effort In 1990Noblesville became one of seventeen mayorships across America awarded automatic reappointment when no mayoralty term expired during calendar year; this program was discontinued effective July 1st 2006 due to budget cuts
