Noblesville is a small town located in Noble County, Indiana. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Indianapolis metropolitan area. The first European to visit Noblesville was Pierre de Lacrosse in 1679. A post office called Noble was established in 1837, and the town was named for General George P. Foster, who had served as United States Marshal for Indiana during the Mexican-American War. The city of Noblesville was platted in 1872, and became an incorporated village in 1915. In 1984, the village consolidated with Noble Township to form a new municipality known as Noblesville-New Castle Township. Noblesville is home to three high schools: Northridge (grades 9-12), Myron Indian School (grades 7-8), and Central High School (grades 9-12). It also has two middle schools: Oak Hills Middle School (grades 7-8) and Keystone Middle School (grades 5-6). There are also six elementary schools: Bellefontaine Elementary School (grades PreK through 4th Grade), Briggs Elementary School (grades K through 3rd Grade), Cherry Hill Elementary School (grade 4th through 6th grade), DeKalb Intermediate/Secondary Schools, Valley View Intermediate/Secondary Schools, and Woodbridge Intermediate/Secondary Schools. They started out making small batches of coffee for their own use, but soon realized that they could improve the quality and taste of their coffee by packaging it and selling it to other cafes and businesses. In 2002, Tactical Coffee moved its headquarters from San Francisco to Austin, TX. In 2006, they opened their second store in Dallas, TX. Noblesville is a town in Franklin County, Indiana, United States. The population was 2,868 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Indianapolis–Carmel–Thornburg metropolitan area. The town was established in 1818 and incorporated as a village in 1837. Noblesville became an independent city on July 1, 1907. The current mayor is Jeff Neuman. The first known permanent settler in Noble'sville was John Noble who arrived there on November 15, 1818 with his family from Newtown Township, Pennsylvania. He built a log cabin on the banks of the White River and named it Noble's Ferry after himself and his brother-in-law Richard Noble (1784-1849), also from Newtown Township. John Noblefurthest from contemporary Noblesville were James Clark and his wife Deborah (née Weis). Their home may have been located near what is now Delaware Street just east of the present day main business district of Noblesville. In 1819, David Lloyd built a gristmill about four miles northeast of Noblesville on Little Miami Creek where he operated it until 1830 when he sold it to Ebenezer Dunham for $2 per acre ($38 today). In 1830 David Lloyd married Sarah Morse (1796-1860) daughter of Jonathan Morse Sr., one of six original settlers who founded Carmel Township January 12th, 1800 by purchase from Nicholas Lackey & co.. She died unmarried at age 33 while living with her parents but left them an acreage around her old mill site that they used as their farmstead until they sold it to Ebenezer Dunham in 1830 for $2 per acre ($38 today). By this time much of central Franklin County had been organized into townships with individual rights to vote and own land; Lafayette township contained only 900 residents within its 5square mile limits according to one source whileNoble'sVILLE contained 3200 people within its 8 square mile boundaries according to another source (). David Lloyd continued operating his gristmill until 1840 when he sold it along with all other property in Lafayette township to George Washington Smith for $4 per acre ($64 today). George Washington Smith lived nearby on Maple Road which leads northwest from present day Noblesville onto Lebanon Road before turning west towards I-465/I-71 near Terre Haute (). Here he erected a large two story brick structure which remains standing still today as part of the Old Mill District Museum () across I-465/I-71 from Terre Haute (). He next purchased 129 acres adjoiningpresentdayNoblesvillefrom Peter Kappenhagen for $10 per acre ($252 today) which included parts or all of what are now Elmwood Avenue (), Spring Grove Boulevard (), Swissvale Road (), Kirkland Drive () and Beechmont Avenue (). He named his new tract "Franklin county", probably based upon Philadelphia land sales done during this period under the name "Easton". He submitted plans for this new tract to the government dated March 4th, 1844 (), but no action was taken because at that time CENTRAL FRANKLIN COUNTY WAS UNDER THE CONTROL OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF INDIANAPOLIS(). A few years later on October 9th, 1850 George Washington Smith again applied for permission to sell portions or all of Franklin county To Indian Agent Isaac Chafee who reported back favorably on December 3rd that same year [] so Mr. Smith obtained letters patent (#1123) dated February 26th entitled: "An Act For Incorporating And Allowing Civil Rights And Privileges To Citizens Of Franklin County" [(Note: This document authorizes incorporation rather than just giving citizens civil rights])]. On January 10th following publication thereof by Indiana Gazette (& subsequent local newspapers), Letters Patent #1135 were issued authorizing Mr'tsmith ""to sell Lots' Between Georgetown Heights And Elkhart Roads For A Million Dollars" (Note: This document authorizes sale not incorporation!)[]]. From these initial actions many more properties were added including most notably Elmwood Avenue (), Spring Grove Boulevard (), Swissvale Road (), Kirkland Drive () and Beechmont Avenue (). There are still several properties remaining unincorporated within modern day Noble'sVILLE although many have since been annexed by neighboring municipalities such as Carmel Junction(), Terre Haute()and Lafayette (). During this period much development took place around what is now downtown Noblesville including construction of numerous businesses such as Wernick Brothers Furniture Company (); National Cash Register Company (); First National Bank (); Harrison gas station (); Fannie Lou Hamer department store () along with additions such as Stieglitz Drugs store (. . .) Frederick Wernick restaurant (/ music hall ). Many homes constructed during this time remain extant including those currently owned by Mrs.[First Name] [LastName] McAllister ([Zip Code] ). These structures include some notable examples like Frederick Wernick restaurant (/ music hall ),built 1925,. . . . Mrs.(First Name) [LastName]'s home which she has resided in since childhood; First National Bank building dating back to 1865; Harrison gas station built 1935; Wernick Brothers Furniture Company building 1926-. . .. Most recently ,[ condo ] /[ hotel ] (. . .) has replaced [ old buildings ]. Although various names have been used throughout history (e.g., 'Noble', 'Newcastle', etc.), confusion often shrouds these changes due largely to inconsistencies among various sources datelining different periods - sometimes discrepancies can be resolved simply by consulting multiple sources!
