The store was known as the "Cupboard Coffee House." The Roebucks became popular for their coffee and other local products. They continued to operate the store until they sold it in 1935 to Mr. and Mrs. Hoadley. In 1941, Mrs. Hoadley introduced her husband, John A. Hoadley, Jr., to the world of coffee beans when he purchased 50 acres of land near St. John for $2,000 cash? worth more than $100 million today! Today, Mr. Hoadley's company is one of America's leading roasters and sells coffee both online and in brick-and-mortar stores throughout the United States? Over time, different people have contributed their own unique ways to make coffee available to locals and tourists alike at various cafes throughout town.? Blessed Sacrament Parish was one of the first parishes in the state to take part in the initiative. Pastor Rick Jenssen says that he was inspired by Pope Francis' words when he heard about how social justice affects Catholics living throughout the country. He wanted to do something to make a difference and help his parishioners connect with each other on a personal level. The goal of "A House divided? No way!" is not just to provide support for parishioners who are struggling financially, but also to create an awareness among Catholics about how social injustice can affect their lives personally as well. He added that understanding what Pope Francis said will help them be more mindful of their own actions and speech while they are officiating at church services. Pastor Rick Jenssen says that this initiative is just one example of how Blessed Sacrament Parish is working together with other Catholic churches throughout Indiana to address social justice issues head-on. He hopes that by doing this, we can all learn from each other and build positive change into our society so that everyone can feel satisfied with themselves and their place in the world."

In Ethiopia, where coffee is grown primarily for roasted beans, it is said that the first beans were ground up in a shaman’s house. The beans were then given to Awad Fofana, who was considered the founder of Ethiopian Coffee Corporation. In 1907, Emperor Haile Selassie I purchased 3 hectares of land in present-day Addis Ababa for $1 million dollars to support Ethiopian Coffee Corporporated (EPC). EPC continues to produce high quality Arabica beans today. The first espresso machines were invented in Italy in 1795 by Giovanni Battista Peruzzi. At first they used water heated on an open fire to make espresso drinks. In 1818 Carlo Magno Caffè founded La Pavoni Brothers café near Rome providing the first espresso machine capable of making two shots at once. Coffee started being exported from Africa during the slave trade era and soon became an important commodity amongst European settlers. When Europeans discovered America, they brought along their love of coffee with them and began importing large quantities of coffee from Africa. By 1830, over 50% of all retail caffeine sales in the United States came from Java pods imported by Englishmen looking for a new source for their morning caffeine fix! During World War II, Europe's main source for roasted beans ended up being Japan due to Nazi restrictions on overseas supply chain communication! The Saints were a group of religious refugees who started arriving in the area around St. John's Parish in 1851. The first pastor, Rev. John A. Jenkins, was encouraged to start a church by his parishioners and founded the first church on October 3, 1851. When the land for the new parish was donated by Colonel James Wilkinson, Jenkins named it after him and dedicated it on November 2 of the same year. On December 15th of that year, Rev. John A. Jenkins was martyred while preaching at Montrose Cemetery in Lafayette County when he was shot through the heart by an unknown assailant while giving Communion to some children nearby. The martyrdom caused great sorrow throughout Indiana as well as within the Catholic Church and generated funds for building additional churches all over America which helped contribute tothe growth of Catholicism in America during this time period. In 1872, Father Francis Jarry founded another church called Our Lady of Charity which quickly became a popular gathering place for Catholics throughout central Indiana due to its warm weather and easy access to prayer services and priests from across the country who could provide spiritual guidance for those living in difficult times.$1 million has been spent renovating or expanding existing churches since Father Jarry’s death in 1921.$ In 1971, Pope Paul VI designated St. John’s Parish as a titular see (a minor ecclesiastical province) of Immaculate Conception because so many people from our community have made donations thereto promoting peace and love.$ Today, St.John’s Parish continues to offer healing touch services along with dance/drama programs for young adults as well as adult congregations$
St. John, Indiana was founded in 1816 by General James K. Polk and his wife Julia as a Methodist Episcopal town in the Bloomington area of central Indiana. It became an American military post in 1818 and a state capital in 1821. The city was named for St. John's patron saint, who is honored there each year during the Feast of All Saints.
