Bowling Green, Kentucky is a small town in the Commonwealth of Kentucky, located in the southeast corner of the state. As of the 2010 census, its population was 14,955. The city of Bowling Green was founded in 1825 by Captain John J. Griggs and became a incorporated city on November 3, 1907. It is the county seat of Clermont County. The area that now comprises Bowling Green was first settled by Native Americans in the late 18th century. The group known as the Shawnees occupied parts of what is now Eastern Kentucky for centuries before eventually being forced out by European settlers in 1776 during Pontiac's War. In 1825, Captain John J. Griggs purchased two tracts of land east-northeast of present-day Bowling Green from three Shawnee chiefs for $1,500 cash. Griggs named his new settlement after himself – George Washington Boulevard today runs through portions of his original land grant near downtown Bowling Green – and laid out a town grid which remains in use to this day. A few years later, on October 6, 1830 (the date Ohio Statehood occurred), General James Ketchum ordered all Indian troops within five miles (8 km) of Louisville to disband or be driven out with their families into Indian Territory under Ulysses S Grant's executive order No: 527 – also known as "The Order Of Peace". This move ended nearly 200 years of military occupation and domination by either side withinKentucky soil; an event that has been called "The Opening Of The West". With only 4 miles (6 km) separating Cincinnati from Louisville at that time, many people thought it would be easy for both cities to become major centers like Philadelphia or New York City had those kinds of distances been standard then insteadofbeingbaseduponriverfrontagesandmagneticnorth." On July 9, 1840–four days after Harrison's presidential inauguration as Ulysses S Grant's 44th president – General David Ritchie arrived at Fort Knox with orders to take over control from President James Ketchum and remove all Native American beings from eastern Kentucky below Mount Vernon Reservoir without any quarter given them whatsoever "…in order that these unfriendly savages might no longer obstruct our navigation on the Monongahela River …" The orders were executed immediately upon Ritchie's arrival at Fort Knox and soon afterward news spread throughout western Kentucky about what had transpired … everything changed when Indians discovered that they could trade goods they knew they couldn't produce back home while still enjoying some degree level access to fresh water resources……… So much so that when General Ritchie learned there were enough white men living nearby who wanted nothing more than to help him dismantle these hostile tribes and make way for development he quickly submitted his request for assistance rather than fight another war against friendly natives." This success led other generals throughout America to emulate Ritchie's example; whether it was General Burnside appointed commander general army post Tennessee Valley Campaign during Union victory over Confederate forces at Vicksburg or Major Gen Joseph Hooker commanding Union forces invading New York during Operation Anaconda which resulted in victory over Confederate forces at First Bull Run). And so began what has come to be known as America's "Great Migration" - people moving westward looking for opportunity and better lives – many becoming citizensofwhatisnowDenverorpintlandin Colorado where most relocated themselves following operations such as Wadsworth Dairy Crash & Santa Fe Railroad construction project which destroyed significant portions OF Denver leaving residents homeless & requiring massive government response including establishment of municipal services such as fire & police departments etc…..
