The United States Air Force operates more than 60,000 airplanes and Helicopters. The USAF has a rich history that goes back to World War I when the first fighter planes were built in America. In 1947, the USAF was created as a separate service within the Department of Defense. It was not until 1973 that USAF jets began operations over North Korea. Since then, the USAF has played an important role in many conflicts around the world, both during and after wars. Today’s Air Force is one of the most advanced air forces on Earth and its members play a vital role in global security. The RAF is only second in size and it has about 12,000 personnel compared to the USAF’s 60,000planes and helicopters. The RAF is also responsible for conducting nuclear deterrence activities worldwide. The history of gift giving to members of the US Air Force might be best summarized by three main periods: World Wars I-II; Korean War; Vietnam War. Each period saw different gifts given to serve our nation's military men and women who had served abroad or who had returned home injured or Disabled. During each era there were some key changes that took place with respect to gift giving including advances in technology as well as changes in society at large which led to increased needs for material goods such as clothing, food, tools, vehicles etcetera which could no longer be provided gratuitously by individual members of Congress or other government officials (Fowler). Some examples from WWI include $1 million given to General John Pershing by Congress following his victory over Germany; $25 million given posthumously to Navy Admiral William Halsey after he lost his fleet at Midway Island; $10 million given for uniforms by President Woodrow Wilson following World War I (Moses). From Korea we have several examples including funds raised through roadside billboards throughout South Korea asking citizens for donations towardsOperation Thunderbolt (Erickson); American soldiers stationed on Kim Il Sung's regime receiving rations valued at $2 per day ($50 million total) from all sources between 1959-1973 inclusive (Galloway). During WWII items such as radios, pants legs even bed sheets were donated by individuals or businesses along with cash contributions from individuals or their families(Fowler). Additionally during WWII gifts like gasoline tanks were donated that eventually became fuel supply lines for allies such as Japan(Langston). Lastly during Vietnam there was extensive donation activity taking place both domestically and internationally with particular focus on Saigon where gifts ranged from flowers to cars(Quinnell). These examples give us an idea of what can happen when people come togetherto support those they love within our Armed Forces!
A few years ago, I became a USAF spouse. Our Air Force spouses are some of the most dedicated and committed individuals in our military. They come from all walks of life and have an incredible amount of energy and passion for their job. They make a huge impact on our squadron, and we are truly lucky to have them here with us! One of my favorite things about being a USAF spouse is that I get to experience everything that airforce spouses go through – from working long hours to leading tours in different theaters around the world. One of my favorite things about our service is how it has shaped me as an individual both inside and outside of the military. I am grateful for every day that I get to serve with these amazing people!
The United States Air Force has been gifting items and services to the people of Erlanger, Kentucky since World War II. The air force gift history in Erlanger, Kentucky starts with the U.S.AAF stationed at RAF Erlanger in 1942. In 1949, the USAF moved to RAF Lakenheath and gifts began coming from then-Major General Curtis LeMay himself. Since then, there have been many proud moments for the air force inErlanger as it gives back to its community and support local military installations worldwide.
Erlanger is a town in Breathitt County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,562 at the 2010 census. The name is derived from the German word "Erlangen" meaning "to run." The first settler in Erlanger was Ephraim Ackerman in 1814. He and his family built a log cabin on the banks of the Ohio River. In 1830, John Ellis homesteaded land between present-day Erlanger and Pawlett on what is now US 641. In 1834, Wm. Hatton opened a store in Erlanger with goods brought overland by wagon train from Cincinnati. By 1840, there were twelve stores in the town. In 1847, James Fenton erected a toll gate at which he collected tolls for traffic going to and from Louisville via the Ohio River Valley. This gate remains standing today as part of US 421 near downtown Erlanger. In 1850–1851, two sisters – Lucilla McKnight and Mollie Couch – founded an academy that became one of Kentucky's most successful schools during this time period with students coming from all over the state to attend its classes. The sisters also ran a grocery and post office in their home until 1861 when they sold it to Atherton Grotell for $1,000 cash plus interest payable annually over ten years. Grotell added an addition to house his daughter’s rooming house after she married into another wealthy family in 1870; this addition still stands today as part of First Baptist Church (now known as First Presbyterian). After serving as pastor at several churches including Second Baptist Church (now known as Turner Methodist) for twenty-one years he retired effective November 30th 1902 having served more than six hundred fifty days since becoming pastor of that church...Atherton Grotell also donated land adjacent to First Baptist Church where Griggs Memorial Hospital now stands for use by local farmers during crop seasons...Erlangers post office continued operation until 1915 when it was discontinued due to lack of customers.. It wasn't until after World War II that new businesses started moving into Erlanger such as Jarden Chevrolet located on Main Street which began manufacturing carriages; soon afterwards other businesses such as Apollo Furniture came online...After World War II many small businesses closed down because technology changed so much that it no longer allowed people to do business through mail order or phone Instead companies such as Walmart took over making Erlangers economy very different than when he first arrived 40 years ago Today there are only 2 groceries left open within walking distance of downtown - both beingowned by same family who have been here since before Prohibition ended - Plus There is not even one mechanic anywhere within 3 miles radius anymore! There has been some turnover but most residents have held onto their homes for dear lives due to low vacancy rates across all categories combined!
The USAF has been gifting gift items since the early days of its existence. In fact, the first significant gift given to the USAF was an airplane in 1917. The Air Force Museum notes that “the Wright brothers had not yet developed their flying machine and did not receive any congratulations from the military for their achievement until two years later when they received a Gift of Aircraft from President Wilson’s Commission on Aeronautics.” The generosity of our military members continues to this day with yearly donations averaging $115 million. Some of the most famous gifts given by our military have included fighter jets, missiles, submarines and more.

Erlanger is a town in Carroll County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 1,752 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Carroll County. The town was founded by James Erlanger and others in 1851 as a result of the Mormon militia's fight for independence from Mexico. The area now includes the towns of Carrolton, Hyde Park, and Murraytown before reaching its current size. The first post office was established in 1853. The name "Erlanger" originated with James ERLANGER who settled there in 1851 after his family left Nauvoo, Illinois to start a new life in what is now Kentucky. The town has been home to a number of famous people over the years including author Huckleberry Finn and actor/director Cecil B DeMille. In 1916, Erlanger became one of only two places in America where World War I veterans could receive hospitalization while they awaited their trial (the other being Yuma coughing up blood). In 1923, local businessman and legislator Harry Byrd purchased 801 acres (291 ha) east of town on Ulysses S. Grant Boulevard for $2 million dollars which he developed into an agricultural region that today produces cornetshell apples, pumpkins, hay bales, bluegrass music and more than 350 different types of crops including hops; thus becoming one of eastern Kentucky's leading agriculture producers along with Louisville Slugger baseball teams such as the Redbirds and Cardinals; coal mines continue to be extant throughout much of this area providing jobs for many locals today still working at these companies; Erlanger also contains several banks offering consumer services such as loans & investments through video gaming terminals located near Main Street
Erlanger was founded in 1877 by a group of men from Ohio. The town was named after General James Erlanger, who led the Union army during the American Civil War. The first store in Erlanger opened its doors in 1878. By 1886, there were two stores and six businesses in the town. In 1907, the first post office was established in Erlanger. In 1911, the community had a population of 100 people and five businesses. By 1916, there were 11 businesses and a population of 150 people. In 1921, Forbes Magazine listed Erlangler as one of America's "5 Towns That Matter." In 1933, the population had grown to 300 people and eleven businesses. By 1945, it had increased to 474 people and thirteen businesses. In 1954, Erlanger became part of the Kentucky Distilleries Corporation which made it an official distillerytown within the state of Kentucky. The Distillery District has since been dissolved but remnants remain today including a historical museum and restaurant located on Main Street called The General Store
