The American Revolution was a watershed event in the history of the United States. It began with a group of patriots who gathered together to overthrow British rule, and led to the rise of a new country where freedom and democracy were enshrined as values. This story begins with one of America's earliest casualties: The Continental Army was deployed to help fight for independence from Great Britain in 1775. In that year, only 8 months after its creation, the army suffered its first casualty when Lt. Col. George Washington was killed during battle at Saratoga Creek near Albany, New York. The Continental Army soon resumed hostilities against Britians throughout North America, participated in some of the most famous battles including Saratoga (1777), Yorktown (1781), Boston Tea Party (1773), Battle of Bunker Hill (1776), and Battle of Monmouth (1814). Frankfort is a city in and the county seat of Clay County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 25,715 at the 2010 census. Frankfort is the traditional home of the University of Kentucky Wildcats football team. The town of Frankfort was founded by J.B. "Pete" Hardin in 1846 as a station on the Louisville and Nashville Railroad. The town grew rapidly due to its location on fertile land near three rivers: Big Sandy River, Cumberland River, and White water River. In 1865, Hardin donated land to build what became known as "the Hill". The men who built it were among the first in Kentuckiana to own slaves. After Reconstruction era ended in 1871, many businessmen left for greener pastures; some moved their businesses into cities while others simply abandoned their towns entirely. Many residents voted to secede from Kentucky and form a new state called West Virginia when they learned that new state laws did not recognize their previous slaveholding societies (Kentucky had been part of Virginia until 1792). When General George Custer's 7th Cavalry Regiment fought against Indians at Little Bighorn Battlefield in Montana on July 26, 1890 (during America's Rough Riders Campaign), most inhabitants of Frankfort had no idea about what was happening outside their door; all they could hear were cannon fire and Apache helicopters overhead! In 1898, when Louisville became an incorporated city Limits Extension I with 28 square blocks covering just over one-half acre within eastbound lanes between Broadway Boulevard and Fourth Street NW—making it one of only two Ulysses S Grant-era American cities without limits expansion privileges—the population numbered 10 people living within boundaries laid out by Hardin himself less than five years earlier! The name change coincided with fraternal order No 824 becoming "The Fraternal Order Of Odd Fellows" or simply "Odd Fellows." With membership now reaching 2200+, Frankfort quickly emerged as one of eastern Kentucky's most vibrant communities...right up there with Bardstown (then Muncie) proportions! During World War II much activity took place at Naval Air Station Lexington where Kirtland AFB would later be established; this included production at Ford Motor Company's Louisville plant under Admiral Byrd’s command during his famous “Operation Neptune†bombing mission over Nazi Germany on September 1st 1945 which precipitated Operation Paperclip which brought top secret American personnel back to America from Europe after the war! After Pearl Harbor OA5 Commander USNR James Marden developed plans for establishement an airfield adjacent to NAS Lexington for use by Consolidated PBY Catalina flying training operations during World War II –this eventually led to Grumman Aircraft Corporation establishing facilities adjacent to NAS Lexington following World War II as Grumman Aviation Center beginning operations May 15th 1946 which remain operational today!

Frankfort is a city in Frankfort County, Kentucky, United States. The population was 11,827 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Frankfort County. The name of the town is first mentioned in 1292 as "Frankfurt". In 1799, it became part of Louisville and was renamed "Frankfort". The city's first mayor was Elijah Muhammad who also founded the Nation of Islam there in 1928. The present-day city was established as a village onDecember 23, 1810 by John Troup and his family after they abandoned their homestead on what is now Mount Zion Baptist Church Road west of downtown Louisville. They named their settlement for Prince Frederick Augustus of Denmark, who had been exiled from Sweden due to religious beliefs and had come to America to find refuge. Prince Frederick Augustus' father ceded Frankfort land to John Troup in 1807. The original town plat included lands east of Capitol Hill that are now part of downtown Louisville; much later these were annexed by the new City of Louisville while still part of Frankfort Township (now Jefferson County). The village had a post office until December 23, 1810 when it became an incorporated town with its own government under the name "Frankfurt." In 1830, Jesse Owens won two gold medals at the London Olympics for America and made international headlines as one of only three American athletes ever to win Olympic gold medals (the other being American sprinter James Ellington). This occasioned great rejoicing throughout America and helped promote tourism within Franklin County which would eventually become oneof America's leading sources for jobs during the Great Depression years. Prior to Owens' victory over Europe's best athlete at that year's Olympics in Berlin he had represented his country only twice internationally: once with a silver medal at Amsterdam’s Gouda Carnival International Exhibition in 1907 then again with bronze medals at Athens’ 1896 Panhellenic Games He reprised his U.S.-won gold Medals at both events but chose not to attend repatriation ceremonies held in Frankfurt am Main following his return home late January 1945 because he felt embarrassed having won British titles while serving an American military installation abroad rrr
