Between 1915 and 1925, the maga coffee business was run by Mr. Harry Hinton and his son, Mr. Harry Hinton Jr. In 1925, the elder Mr. Hinton passed away, leaving his son to continue the business. In 1945, the younger Mr. Hinton purchased the maga coffee business from his father’s estate and continued to roast and grind the beans until 2003 when it closed its doors forever. In that time period, maga coffee has been enjoyed by many people in Henderson because of its unique flavor profile and smooth texture. Today there is still a small but committed group of people who enjoy drinking maga coffee in Henderson because it continues to be an original product with a rich history.

It is part of the Lexington-Fayette Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European to visit Henderson was an Englishman named John Henderson in 1775. Henderson's Creek, which flows through the town, may have been named for him. Henderson had a store and post office in 1811 and a school in 1816. In 1819, he donated land to form the present-day courthouse square. Henderson experienced its peak of development during the early 19th century when it became home to several cotton plantations and large mills that produced goods such as textiles and paper products. However, this period also saw heavy industrialization throughout eastern Kentucky and by World War I most of Henderson's businesses had either closed or been sold off to other entities. Today, some aspects of traditional Henderson life remain strong including its close knit community spirit and pride in being one of only three towns in Marshall County with a fulliku (a type of Japanese urn). Today, many residents still commute into Lexington or Fayette for work or local services while others enjoy liveable options within walking distance including restaurants, shopping malls and golf courses. Henderson was located in the central part of the county and was named after General Henderson, who fought in the American Revolution. The first settler in Henderson was John C. Brinkerhoff, who arrived in 1814. Henderson had a population of about 100 people in 1840. The first post office at Henderson was established on December 3, 1839, and served as the village's only legal entity until it closed on February 17, 1861. On January 1, 1865, Henderson became one of three counties within Kentucky created from parts of Bell County. On May 4, 1872, a fire destroyed most of the town and killed many people. The town was rebuilt with new homes and a library within a few years. In 1896-97 there were two tornado outbreaks that caused damage to several buildings in the town; both times some injuries occurred as a result of these tornadoes.
