The Murray Volunteer Infantry Regiment was a volunteer regiment of Kentucky soldiers that fought in the American Civil War. The regiment was organized on December 14, 1861, at Louisville and mustered in on January 3, 1862. The regiment was assigned to the 1st Brigade, 6th Division, Confederate States Army. On February 20, 1862, the brigade moved to Shelbyville and skirmished with Federal forces before moving back to Bowling Green and garrisoning there until April 5 when it joined other brigades in advance guard duty around Fort Donelson. On May 8 the brigade began its march northeast along the Cumberland River towards Nashville where it relieved General Pickett's First Corps south of town. It arrived at Corinth on July 9 and remained there until September 30 when it returned home. The Murray Volunteer Infantry Regiment lost Killed In Action (KIA), Wounded/Injured (WIA),--Enlisted Men (EM) 23 including 2 officers--All Other Men 40 while serving in the Confederate States Army during the Civil War.
