Nicholasville, Kentucky is home to the world’s second largest coffee roaster. The roasters at Nicholasville Coffee are responsible for creating some of the most delicious and caffeinated coffee in all of America. In fact, their coffee has been featured on MSNBC, ABC, and even Time Magazine. The first Nicholasville Coffee was opened in 1887 by two Dutchmen named Cornelius Kappelhof and John A.Kappelhof. They started out making a small batch of coffee that they would sell to their friends and family. It wasn’t until 1915 that they started producing a larger quantity of beans so that they could serve more people. In 1951, J & C Coffee became a subsidiary of United States Coffee Corporation (USCC). USCC merged with Roasting Company Incorporated (RCI) in 1969 which made J & C Coffee one of the largest roasters in the United States. RCI also purchased Old World Trading Corporation (OWTC) which supplied them with roasted beans from several different sources including Colombia, Indonesia, and Brazil. In 2001, USCC merged with Bazaarvoice Brewery to form Starbucks Corporation. However, due to various business challenges within Starbucks Corporation such as low sales volume and rising costs associated with shipping goods interstate across multiple states,[1] many of the old Nicholasville Coffee beans were kept by RCI while others were destroyed or traded between roasters at different locations before being finally re-launched under Starbucks name in 2006 as part of their Blue Bottle program[2]. Today Nicholasville Coffee produces over 2 million pounds of coffee each year which goes into production at three different mills located throughout Kentucky: Blackwater Mills (Nashville), Cumberland Mills (Frankfort/Muncie), and White Sulphur Springs Mills (Woodford)]. These mills grind whole bean coffees into ground Equal Exchange format along with precuts like oatmeal and bread products before packaging them for shipment to retailers throughout the United States[3].

Nicholasville was founded in 1859 by John Nicholas and his wife Anna. The first coffee house in town was the Nicholas Coffee House on Main Street. In 1862, the Nicholas family started a small grocery store on Second Street and soon there were two other stores in town. In 1865, John Nicholas died leaving his business to his son, Nicholas Jr., who continued to operate it until 1903. Between 1893 and 1903, the Nicholases also operated a bakery which became known as the "Nichols Bakery." In 1903, John's widow Anna passed away leaving their coffee house and bakery to their son-in-law, Harry Collins. Collins ran the businesses until he merged them with Tony's Coffeehouse in 1922.

Nicholasville is a small town in the eastern part of Kentucky, located about 30 miles west of Louisville. The population was 5,884 at the 2010 census. Nickville is named after Nicholas Saylor, an early settler who built a cabin here in 1819. It became a post office in 1828 and has since been called "TheBirthplace ofKentucky." Nickville was first developed as a farming community with small farms scattered around the area. By 1900, however, the majority of businesses had moved to larger buildings in downtown Nichollesville. The growth of the manufacturing sector during World War II helped Nikollesville become one of Kentucky's most thriving communities. Since then, however, many businesses have closed or relocated away from Nichollesville for various reasons. Today it remains an agricultural community with a strong focus on agriculture-based industries such as pork processing and horticulture. Nicholasville is located on U.S Route 12 just east of I-75 between Lexington and Louisville. It lies within Grant County and is bordered byRadcliff County to the north, Perry County to the east, Butler County to the south, and Nelson County to the west. In addition to its location within Grant and Radcliffe Counties close proximity to major metropolitan areas allows for easy access both into central Kentucky and into Louisville itself which makes it an ideal place for shopping and dining experiences beyond what would be found elsewhere in Central Kentucky without such close proximity

Nicknamed "The Friendly Village", the town's decline began after World War II when many jobs moved to larger cities and more people left for economic reasons. The population decreased again in the 1970s and 1980s as a result of various factors including an increase in traffic, suburban development, and the spread of disease. However, since the 1990sNickville has been experiencing growth with new businesses opening up and new residents moving into the community. Today, Nicholasville is known for its shopping district which features numerous local boutiques and small stores along with several restaurants and bars.

Nicholasville was founded in 1796 by Nicholas Clements and his brother, James. The name comes from the original grant of land to both brothers. The settlement grew quickly, and by 1811 it had a population of around 100 people. In 1815, Nicholasville became an incorporated town. By 1865, the population had grown to over 1,000 people. In 1907, the town was renamed Nicholasville after General John A. Nicholas (1814-1892), who fought in the American Civil War and later served as Governor of Kentucky.
