The United States Air Force (USAF) deploys gifts to friendly countries as part of its annual Christmas program. The gift history of the USAF Santa Claus Program is reflective of the USAF's commitment to service and benevolence. The USAF Santa Claus Program began in 1948 with a donated wreath from the US Embassy in Oslo, Norway. From then on, the program grew gradually and by 1955, the USAF had gifted over 1,000 items to country diplomats and military personnel around the world. Since its inception, Santa has traveled extensively throughout America and Europe giving away presents to children and families. In 2013, Santa made an historic appearance at Dover AFB in Delaware during Operation Christmas Tree Drifting which raised more than $2 million for various charities across America. In December 2014, Santa made an appearance at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst (JBK), Elmira, New York during National Guardsmen's Day Parade where he distributed candy canes to children who lined up along each block! He also visited our local fire stations that night while handing out hot cocoa! In 2015,Santa delivered a special gift to Maine residents when he visited Lewiston AFB. During his visitations at AFB we enjoyed refreshments from fuel services officer Tom Kappenberger who made us all some delicious treats! After his visit we erected a tree complete with lights and tinsel - it was great fun playing under it!

The Maine Air National Guard's 1st Brigade Combat Team (1BCT) deployed a gift history in Lewiston, Maine on Dec. 5, 2017 as part of the Christmas Season. The brigade received a shipment of military-themed gifts from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
Lewiston is a town in Maine, United States. The population was 9,531 at the 2010 census. The town is located in Penobscot County and is part of the Lewiston-Auburn, ME Micropolitan Statistical Area. The first white person to live in the area that would become Lewiston was John Day who settled on nearby Androscoggin Lake in 1824. Early settlers were largely Norwegian immigrants who arrived beginning in 1819 and are buried at Auld Center Cemetery. By 1870 there were 95 families living and working along Mount Desert Bayou, which extended from present-day downtown Lewiston all the way down to what is now Bemis Heights neighborhood. A ferry called the "Ferry Boat" transported goods and passengers between Mount Desert Bayou and Androscoggin Lake for most of this time until about 1905 when an electric conveyance became available through a connection with Bangor Morse & Company's line running south from Portland, Maine. Lewiston began as a small community consisting of only five houses on Androscoggin Lake by 1879 when three brothers - Ezra Weeks (1821-1893), Isaac Noyes (1826-1900) and Ebenezer Stevens (1829-1902) - bought land from John Day for $200 each. The villages of Auburn and Bangor grew up around these early settlements while Lewiston developed mainly as a commercial center due to its location on Androscoggin Lake where two steamboats operated: the "Andromeda" which made trips between Auburn and Bangor every day during summertime until 1907 when it was replaced by the "Cumberland". At first all water transportation coming into or leaving Lewiston came via boat but then an electric railway became available which connected downtown with Endicott Street nearpresent day First Avenue; this railway continues to be used today by Amtrak trains traveling between Brunswick Junction Station in New Hampshire and Boston Peaks Station in Massachusetts however there has been no major development here since then so buses have become more common than rail transportation. In 1908 construction began on what would eventually become known as Main Street; today it forms one block of downtown Lewiston alongside present day State Street which dates back to 1795 when Stephen Lenox founded what would later be known as Dexter Township; withinDexter Township were two other townships: Westbrooksborough(now Westdale) formed c 1830 by splitting off Greenfield township west of Dexter lake shoreline & Winthrop formed c 1840 following purchase of land east of Dexter lake shoreline from Bradford family). In 1916 main street was renamed after Mayor Harry Wetherbee who had been elected earlier that year after serving three terms as mayor of Auburnburg; during his term Main Street expanded from just downtown including parts of present day Bemis Heights Neighborhood northeastwardly extending past Present days Headley Road hometoPortland military airport). In 1943 Main Street was again renamed after prominent local resident Hilda Sanger after she donated money towards building a new high school for Lewiston; currently known as Sanger High School it opened its doors in September 1944 adjacent to former Poultney munitions plant housing both primary & secondary schools before closing shop 5 years later due to budget cuts making it one of only 2 high schools closed within Maine during that time period aside from RockvilleHighSchoolwhichclosedin1987&BiddefordHighSchoolwhichclosedin1991). Today Main Street retains much historical significance even though much has changed since then including being blocked off completely within Downtown Lewiston proper making it difficult or impossible for pedestrians or cyclists to reach even landmark buildings such as Old Town Hall which remains unaccessible without prior permission while also blocking views outlying neighborhoods providing little opportunity for people living closeby either Shopping or visiting any significant attractions When World War I ended hostilities had not ended yet across Europe many men remained attached To their homes countries fighting various battles starting with Russia where approximately 50% men had enlisted by late 1914 many joining Russian forces travelling outside Russia primarily Siberia although some did manageTo return home briefly before officially entering military service . Many Alaskan men served also contributing thousandsOf manhours directly & indirectly helping build roads, bridges, factories etc... several hundredAlaskan soldiers died foughting overseas including Sergeant Robert Everson killed May 8 1918 while leading his unit through charges against German positions north toward Ranzig . For many Alaskan menWWI represented their final chance at freedom Although they knew they may never see their families again them service brought them closer together cementing relationships still strong centuries later

In addition to its role as an aerial refueler, this airplane also played critical roles during exercises such as Blue Flag and Green Flag events throughout 1993/1994.
