When the United States military invaded Waterville, Maine in 1941, they knew that they needed to provide a gift for the town's residents. As with Ayerborough County as a whole*, whites constituted 83% of all residents age 20 and over; non-Hispanic black Americans made up 5%. Hispanic or Latino residents made up 3% of all residents age 20 and over* (though they may also form smaller proportions due to naturalization or citizenship). As part of Saco County – which includes present-day Portland – watervilles were established in 1795 as trading posts on both sides of the Penobscot River. At first these settlements were small isolated villages with only about twenty residents each; however over time they grew larger and more organized into what we now know as Waterville Corporation (later renamed Chambersburg Corporation). In 1836 Waterville became an incorporated village with a population of 1 500 people living in 100 houses scattered around downtown square (now called Park Square), bounded northward by Market Street on one side and eastward by First Street on the other side (the original borders between neighbors). By 1900 there were over 3000 inhabitants living in various parts of town including North End () which stretched along what is now Main Street from Center to South End (); East End (), located just southwest of today’s Park Square (); West End (), stretching northwest from what is now Bank street to High St.; finally Southeast (). Today’s most populous portion within city limits according to 2010 census data is NorthEast Side (). It should be noted that at this point not all residents withinwatervilles lived within their own respective geographic boundaries - some resided primarily or entirely outside their hometown while others resided inside but traded goods or services with those living closer to them (e.g., those living near First & Second Streets interchange went both ways providing goods/services back & forth between neighboring villages & towns). Town officials at first relied upon farmers from surrounding villages for food supplies since no market existed nearby; however starting in 1837 commercialism began developing slowly with merchants opening up stores downtown selling feed/firewood/etc., among other items essential for local businesses during economic times A bank also opened up soon after enabling much needed financial stability when prices fluctuated greatly during economic downturns throughout country To date still active building fronts remaining Downtown area: On either side Of Park Square JustNortheast Corner Of Main And Bank Streets Uptown corner Of Third And Fourth Streets Southwest corner Of Fifth And Sixth Streets
