The Marine Corps Deployed Gift History program began in 1984 with the shipment of a gift from Battalion Commander Lt. Colonel Edwin J. “Buzz” Aldrin, Jr., United States Marines. This program continued to grow and change with the arrival of new battalion commanders and their families, as well as donations from friends and family members who had served in the marines. Today, the Marine Corps Deployed Gift History program includes gifts sent by marines stationed all around the world.

Cambridge, Maryland is a small town in Prince George's County, Maryland. It was founded in 1771 by soldiers from Cambridge, England who were stationed at Fort Caroline. The town has a population of around 1,500 people and is the county seat of Prince George's County. The town was first settled by farmers and their families who raised crops and hunted deer on the rolling hills to the east of the present-day village. By 1800, there were only a few buildings remaining from when the town was established. In 1837, construction began on what would become Cambridge University as part of an effort to provide education for Native Americans in Prince George's County. The university grew rapidly and by 1860 had reached its peak with over 100 students living on campus. In 1873, however, after a fire destroyed much of the building complex including much of the university library, Cambridge University decided to move its main campus to nearby Takoma Park. Cambridge continued to grow rapidly until World War II when it lost most of its buildings in a bombing raid by Nazi Germany. After the war, many new homes were built in memory of those lost in battle or during World War II while other buildings were used for housing and business purposes until they became derelict again in the late 1990s. Today, Cambridge remains an important community with strong cultural ties to both England and America which can be seen throughout its unique architecture and businesses

Cambridge, Maryland is a town located in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 10,528 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Washington- Chevy Chase- Takoma Park Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent English settlers in Cambridge were the Rev. John Smith and his family who arrived in 1684. In 1714, the Colonel Thomas Hennepin built a sawmill on River Thames near what is now Cambridge Center mall. By 1800, there were 128 houses and 12 stores in Cambridge. The mill workers came from eastern England and Scotland to work at Hennepin's mill which became one of America's leading mills during the early 19th century. In 1827, Charles "Chip" Ballou founded Stonington Mills followed by Princeton Mills two years later; these mills produced cotton yarn for export to Great Britain and other countries throughout the 1800s until those factories closed around 1940 due to competition from more efficient machines made in Germany and Japan. During World War II, many local people worked as war production workers including T/O (Technical Officer) James Waddell who was responsible for manufacturing munitions for Prince George’s County government buildings such as county courthouse and jail After World War II ended officials decided that high school dropouts would not be suited to postwar technical careers so they developed programs called “ Technical School Corps” which offered summer jobs or training opportunities to young men entering college after high school graduation In 1951 when Cambridge incorporated as a town it had 581 residents with just over $2 million in assets according to its own assessment report However within 10 years its population had increased dramatically reaching 12,815 by 1970 With an annual economic output of over $50 million its economy has been highly diversified through businesses such as technology companies like Microsoft Bing Inc., Comcastskinetics LLC., Elizabethtown Paper Manufacturing Company llc., Covidant Pharmaceuticals Incorporatedand various health care providers
Cambridge, Maryland was founded in 1777 by the merger of two settlements: Cambridge and Bel Air. The town was named for the University of Cambridge, which had been opened in 1636. In 1871, a new campus was built on what is now Mount Vernon Road.
