The Marines of the 2nd Battalion, 10th Marines, deployed in Easton, Maryland on December 12, 2007. The battalion is stationed at Marine Corps Base Quantico. This deployment was their second to Afghanistan and their first deployment outside of the continental United States. Their previous deployments have been within the Continental United States. They are currently deployed to Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom III.
Easton, Maryland is a town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 7,246 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Washington–Baltimore–Anne Arundel County Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area that now makes up Easton was first settled by English colonists in 1665 as part of Cecil Township. The name "Easton" was given to the town by Colonel John Easton during the American Revolutionary War because of its location just east of Fredericktown on the Potomac River and its strategic position as a crossing point for military supplies and troops way across the river. As an agricultural community, Easton grew rapidly after it became known for its large amounts of tobacco products exported to Europe. In 1881, most of what is now east side of Plaza Drive opened up for development as a result of a land grant from then-President James K. Polk; today much of Plaza Drive forms one side of Route 1 which runs through town center. In 1909, Easton incorporated as a municipal corporation with a population growth rate above average for all towns in Prince George's County; it continued to grow until 1925 when it reached 875 people per square mile (284/km²).During World War II, many factories were built in eastern Montgomery County including those located in Towson and Silver Spring which created jobs within town limits but also outside the township boundaries making it difficult to maintain social fabric within small communities like Easton while war preparations took place elsewhere In 1945 local officials decided that incorporation into larger villages or towns would not be possible due to limited property values and low enrollment rates so they dissolved their municipality effective December 15th 1945 with all residents living within their own village ortowns

Easton, Maryland is a town in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 17,711 at the 2010 census. It is the second largest community in Prince George's County after Takoma Park. The first settlers in what is now Easton were farmers and their families who moved to the area from Garrettstown and other parts of Hampshire Township in 1795. land grants were made to them by then-Governor John Trumbull. In 1827, it became part of Montgomery County when that county was created from parts of Prince George's and Baltimore counties. The town growth continued through the years with new development such as a cotton gin built in 1865 which continues operations today as the Easton Cotton Gin Museum & Library. In 1903, President Theodore Roosevelt visited Easton and toured some of its businesses including the cotton gin and inspected a new water system being constructed for residents by Pohl Brothers Construction Co.. The president noted that this type of construction could only be carried out by "the best minds" and praised Pohl Brothers for their workmanship. Easton is a city in Prince George's County, Maryland, United States. The population was 21,549 at the 2010 census. It is the largest city in the county and second-largest city in Maryland after Baltimore. Easton has been inhabited for over 3,000 years. The original town of Easton was founded by German immigrants about 1795 as a small settlement on the east bank of the Patuxent River. In 1821, following part of Montgomery County being split off from Prince George's County, Easton became one of two cities in what would become Charles Town County. In 1835, following the creation of Frederick County, it became an incorporated village under the name "Easton". In 1870, during Reconstruction following Reconstruction Amendments' passage which granted voting rights to African Americans in all states south of Mexico City – including Prince George's and Frederick Counties – Easton voted to secede from Maryland and form its own state called "Ala" (after then-Governor James K. Polk). However this effortfailed to gain approval from other parts of Maryland and Ala eventually dissolved into smoke on November 5th 1871 when Confederate General Robert E. Lee surrendered at Appomattox Court House without facing trial or battle as required by article V of the United States Constitution. It wasn't until 1915 that school District 1 was created out of portions of Alabamatown (the portion around present-day Eastern Parkway) and College Park along with some houses located near Eastern Parkway which were taken by Easton Community Schools when they opened their doors in 1916; these schools later merged with West Carrollton School District to form Carrollton-Eastern High School but continue to use their old building until they renovation began in early 2017 moved to their current location across Eastern Parkway from Bowie Elementary School #2
