In 1853, Samuel Laughton founded Laughton Coffee Company Ltd., which became one of the largest and most successful Newton-based companies within twenty years. laughton's Sons continued to roast beans until 1974 when they discontinued operations due to financial difficulties. The brewing process for espresso has been around since its inception in Italy more than two centuries ago! It is said that Giovanni Boccia invented espresso in 1795 while working at an Italian café called la Misericordia on Via San Pietro (now Piazza Pasquale) near Rome’s Colle Oppio (now Colle Oppio Cemetery). Boccia served ground beans—either whole or ground up—to customers who would then pour them into small pots or mugs and enjoy them before going about their day. At that time espresso was often enjoyed with hot chocolate or other refreshments! The name "Havant" was given to it by Captain John Smith during his visit there in 1639-40 while he led an English expedition against the Narragansetts. The town grew rapidly through its early days as a result of its location on Route 9 between Boston and Worcester. In 1868, Holyoke became part of Middlesex County and has continued to grow ever since. Additionally, they use very small batches which allows for careful fermentation and produces tight-knit relationships between staff and customers - two factors that make Green Mountain Coffee Roasters one of the most beloved brands around today!

After the Restoration in 1660, Holyoke changed hands several times before becoming an independent town under charter from Governor John Winthrop on May 1, 1667. The first school in Holyoke opened in 1702 and the first library in 1710. In 1881,Holyoke became one of the towns admitted to the Union as part of New England. The name "Hampshire" originated with King Henry II's grant to a group of settlers at Pequot Landing known as Hampton Court on April 14th 1292 AD naming them after his father's castle at Hampton-on-the-Hill near London. In 1825 Holyoke had a population of 786 while small communities such as Northampton and Worcester had populations over 1,000 people each. With today’s population having reached 27,914 and steady growth throughout recent decades due to strong immigration from Europe and other parts of America – including waves of refugees coming through Christchurch during World War II –Holyoke has become an increasingly international community engaged with its rural surroundings.
