This innovation created a demand for Ethiopian coffees that helped increase worldwide bean production significantly. In 1895, Netherlandsman Cornelius Kieft introduced an improved version of Dutch oven roast called Kolfschoten which became more tender and flavorful than earlier versions. kiefersoorten (roasts) continued to be developed until about 1945 when all varieties became standardized through international trade under the name Robusta
