In 1913 they bought their own brewery and named it Anoka Brewing Company. This company would become one of the largest breweries in Minnesota with over 100 employees including Harry Lyrick who would continue to lead it until his death in 1925. They also produced wine and beer for other businesses such as Sperry & Hutchinson Department Store (now Macy's) and Minneapolis Fidelity Trust Company (now PNC bank). The secondGun Lover Gift was given on December 3rd 1922 by Ethel Mabel Dodge to her brother-in-law William Prentice Dodge who she had married four years earlier during their honeymoon trip through Scandinavia together! The Dodge family lived near Duluth then moved downriver where they purchased an old lumber mill which they turned intoAnoka Arms Sporting Goods store located at 1080 5th Ave N #328 on May 25th 1923! It would be their only store but it would be extremely successful due to its low prices, variety of products available, friendly staff, AND its location next door TO THE MINNESOTA STATE CAPITOL! The store slogan back then was "The Place where Guns Not Be Taken" which still holds true today! It closed its doors on October 16th 1973 but not before leaving an indelible legacy within the community!
