The original gun was a lever-action Model 1871 Springfield Springfield rifle that he purchased from an Amish man named Samuel P. Hensley. This rifle is currently on display at the Marshall Historical Society Museum. Marshall's next purchase came in 1876 when he purchased a Winchester Model 1897 shotgun from Amos Webb. This shotgun is still on display at the museum today and has been used for hunting and target shooting throughout its history. In 1893, Marshall donated his entire collection of handguns to the town of Marshall. These handguns were eventually stored at the now defunct Dakota County Gun Club until they were donated to the city of Minneapolis in 1984. Marshall, Minnesota is a small town in the state of Minnesota. The population was 1,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. Marshall is located on the Red River and has a temperate climate with average temperatures between 25 and 34 degrees Fahrenheit. The name "Marshall" comes from Chief Tecumseh's advice to his followers to move westward because their eastern brethren were moving eastwards and away from them. The first settler in what is now Marshall was George Armstrong Custer who landed there on July 20th, 1854 while he was on his way to Fort Snelling in Dakota Territory. The community grew rapidly during World War I as soldiers went off to fight in Europe and Asia. By 1920, there were over 200 residents living in Marshalltown proper with a total population of 1,812 people. When Prohibition was repealed in 1933, the community started to grow again as many people became interested in alcohol consumption for social occasions such as weddings and funerals. In 1945, when America became involved in World War II, Marshall saw its biggest growth yet due to the influx of servicemen coming home from overseas campaigns. At that time, it had a population of 472 people but by 1951 had shrunk down to just 131 residents due mainly to annexation by neighboring city of Minneapolis-Saint Paul (MSP). In 1995, when MSP decided not to renew its lease with the United States Post Office Department for an additional century after which it would expire without renewal or transfer of ownership; Marshall began planning for possible abandonment which would have taken place over 10 years given MSP's decision not renewing notice until after 100 years had passed since they moved into town center property against their own wishes; however this never happened as post office officials agreed during negotiations that if any change occurred within Marshalls boundaries then those changes would be retroactive so long as no new buildings were erected within City limits since all USPS functions had been moved out onto private land prior thereto: thus continuing former tenant/ users contact/ cooperation with USPS officialdom rather than sudden abolition resulting from unilateral decision made without input from those affected thereby preserving some degree of civic life & interaction
