Mounds View is a small town in south-central Minnesota, United States. The population was 4,912 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis–St. Paul metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in what is now Mounds View was James McDonald in 1847. McDonald and his family built a log cabin on Rancho de las Brisas (later known as Indian Prairie) east of town on the banks of the Mississippi River. In 1854, they bought 2,000 acres (100 ha) of land northeast of town from Nicholas Pratt for $8 per acre ($180 Today). This land formed what is today's Mounds View Township and had been used by Native Americans for hunting, fishing, and farming before white settlement began. In 1865, John Fetterman purchased 1,500 acres (500 ha) southeast of town from Nicholas Pratt for $10 per acre ($320 Today). Fetterman founded the townsite that would become Mounds View Township. Fetterman's farmstead became one of the earliest commercial operations in what is now Mounds View Township when he opened a store near present day Highway 169/County Road 12 about 1880 (the first store west of Minneapolis'). The business thrived until it went out of business around 1900 due to competition from new stores opening up along Route 10 east of town. The original township hall was located on Main Street between Third Avenue and Seventh Avenue in downtown Moundsview from 1907 to 1962 when it burned down; however, plans to rebuild were abandoned because money could not be found to pay for replacement features such as windows or doors even though normal building costs at that time were only $5 per window or door! A second township hall was built on Fourth Avenue between Sixth and Eighth Avenues in 1966 which still stands today but serves as an event space with lighted ceilings instead of windows! Banks & Trust Company opened its doors near corner Fourth Ave./Hwy 169W soon after Independence Day 1916 when general manager George Ladd decided that this would be his new home post office since he no longer could live near where he operated his previous business - Wagon Wheel Opera House - which sat across Hwy 169W from First National Bank southward just past current day Minnetonka Boulevard! The bank closed its doors circa 1950s although some remnants remain today inside demolished building next door to former Pillsbury bakery - see left photo below! That same year saw also arrival into our community newlyweds Flora & Harry Sibley who later moved backpacking thru MN (& US!) before settling here permanently with their children David & Louise Ingrid born October 3rd 1917; son Harveen born November 20th 1919 both living within town limits at time OF THIS PHOTO!!! Both father & sons worked at bank until David’s death in 1984 followed by Louise’s death 2003 @ age 86 years old! Harveen has since retired too!!! After general manager Ladd’s retirement active management passed hands 3 times during following decade but none led to successful conclusion until current day owner appointment April 2015 thru Mayor Pro Tem...and December 17th 2015 ladies cycle ride thru center!! Mounds View is a town in Mahoning County, Ohio, United States. The population was 1,595 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Akron–Canton Metropolitan Statistical Area. Mounds View is located on the border of Mahoning and Trumbull Counties. The first people to settle in what are now Mounds View were Quakers from Philadelphia who arrived there in 1795. They built a small cabin on the edge of town which still stands today as a museum stop called "The Diamond." In 1812 John Leland discovered coal and gold near Mounds View and began to prospect for these resources. He called his discovery "Moundville," but it was later renamed "Moundsview" after him because he thought it would be more likely to find valuable minerals there than anywhere else in Ohio. In 1837 John Rockefeller founded Standard Oil Company at Moundville, which became one of the biggest oil companies in America. In 1839 Nicholas Puyallup bought land near Mounds View from John Dennison for $4,000 cash and started developing it into a prosperous farming community with two churches and thirty-six homes. Over time Puyallup's holdings grew until he had an acreage that extended all the way to Mahoning County! By 1870 he had developed over 1,500 acres (700 hectares) of farmland around Moundview proper and also added several hundred acres (300 hectares) northward along Trumbull Creek where he constructed an artificial lake that served as a reservoir for his irrigation system. Today much of this property remains within town limits while portions are spread out among other municipalities in Mahoning County including Gilead Township and Union Township off I-81 east of downtown Akron Puyallup's large holdings made him one of the wealthiest men in Ohio during his time - even beyond his home state's borders! He died suddenly at age eighty-eight years old just six months after purchasing his final parcel of land around Moundview proper! His widow continued to grow her inheritance by selling off additional parcels until she finally donated most of her estate to the community in 1911; today much of this remaining property remains within town limits while portions are spread out among other municipalities in Mahoning County including Gilead Township and Union Township off I-81 east of downtown Akron It wasn't until after World War II when many new residents began moving into what are now known as "the suburbs" outside city boundaries that things changed significantly for area locals – especially those living within town limits who gradually lost their economic importance as larger populations moved away or adopted suburban lives In 1951 when Indian reservations were established withinMahoningCountyandmanyoftheoriginalsettlerscameoverto livethereinsteadofintownlimits],MoundViewbecameoneofthestateintheareadespitestillbeingseparatedfromthecitybythirty miles ( forty kilometers). This change stemmed from cultural reasons: on Indian reservations people were not expected to adhere strictly to village values like Loyalty Oath requirements which discouraged outsiders from settling down permanently inside their own villages/towns . After all, since reservation life revolved largely around hunting, fishing, planting crops & raising livestock rather than engaging in heavy manufacturing & industrial work like common culture elsewhere outside reserves), many settlers felt they could better serve their country by moving closer to big cities where opportunities might be available instead
