Mounds View is a small town in Ramsey County, Minnesota, located on the banks of the Mississippi River. The population was 9,691 as of the 2010 census. It has been inhabited by Native Americans for over two centuries and first became known as a stop on the Underground Railroad before becoming a center for coffee production. The town's first commercial grocery store was built in 1868 and its first restaurant opened in 1896. Mounds View's Cummings Coffee Mill was founded in 1912 and continues to produce quality beans today.

Mounds View is a small town located in Ramsey County, Minnesota. The population was 1,869 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. In 1851, Mounds View was named after Chief Joseph Mound (1810-1872), an American Indian leader and scout who helped found what is now Minneapolis. In 1857, the first post office in Mounds View was established. The town began to grow rapidly during the late 1800s as farmers built new homes and businesses along the Mississippi River east of town. By 1902, Moundsview had a white school and a black school. The town's prosperity declined during World War I and World War II but has gradually regained its former level of development since then.
Mounds View is a small town in the upper Great Lakes region of Minnesota. The population was 1,521 at the 2010 census. Mounds View is located in Anoka County, and it is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. Mounds View was founded by farmers in 1851 as a station on the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad. The first settler, James Henshaw, built a cabin on the site of the present-day village in 1852. In 1857, Landon Cady purchased land near Mounds View from Henshaw for $1 per acre. Cady named his new settlement after Mound City, Kansas, which he had visited while traveling through that state on his way to Minnesota's capital city, Saint Paul. In 1860, Danish immigrant Ole Hansen erected what remains today's most distinctively styled dwelling in Mounds View – called simply "Hansen's House." Hansen had come to America from Denmark with his family and soon began building himself a home here among his fellow immigrants – becoming one of MN's earliest successful entrepreneur/builders. His house continued to be used as a home until around 1925 when it was taken down and replaced with an all-steel post office Administrative Building currently occupied by the Anoka County Prosecutors Office (Photo courtesy: Minnesota Historical Society). The early years at Moundsview were difficult for many reasons; access to water was poor and there were few means of transportation other than horseback or walking between miles of riverside prairies surrounding the community. However, over time residents banded together to improve their conditions and build themselves some impressive landmarks such as an artificial pond that still stands today filled with fish (now known as Pioneer Park), two schoolhouses (now gone but remaining locally significant tourist attractions), and even a church! "The Village" museum opened its doors in 1915 following years of fundraising efforts led by local resident Mrs. Whetstone-Levin who also served as its first director (Library Museum Archives photo). This important museum housed artifacts related to everyday life during pioneer days including tools used by pioneers such as hoes and sickles from early settler days onto today’s farmssteads throughoutMN; furniture both domestic & commercial made during this era; photos & newspapers dating back to 1851 when MOUNDVIEW PHONE COOPERATIVE FIRST STARTED...All these items make up one OF THE LARGEST AND BEST SELECTED COLLECTIONS OF ITS TYPE IN THE STATE OF MINNESOTA" It wasn't until 1929 that aerial photography became available which allowed us visualize just how extensive these pre-dawn activities actually were! Today visitors can explore various aspects of pioneer life & culture at "The Village" Museum while learning about how telephone service helped connect settlers with each other during this crucial time period (& more)

In 1824, Mr. John Addison dined at The White Swan on Oxford Street and wrote about his experience: "The coffee was very good but they did not offer any toast." However, the first Starbucks location opened up in Seattle in 1976. At that time, Starbucks had only 2 locations - one inside a shopping mall and one outside on Mercer Street. The first Starbucks roast style was light roast with medium doneness - which still exists today as their popular Legacy Roasts range. Over time, some other famous brands have startedODU (originally Dutch Dochtbrouwers), ECMWF (Egyptian Cappuccino) and koffee Klatch (Korea's first koffee shop). The first coffee was roasted in Sumatra, Indonesia in the early 15th century. Coffee beans were dried and ground into a coarse powder before being shipped to Europe. The bean trade expanded rapidly after Columbus discovered new lands in 1492 and Portugal began trading with Asia. In the 16th century, coffee beans were grown in Africa and India. In 1519, Spanish sailors discovered Java, an island off the coast of Indonesia that contained many potential resources such as coffee beans. This led to a period of great interest in Java for both Portuguese traders and Spanish explorers. The Dutch began exploring Java in 1596 and soon became very interested in its coffee resources. In 1602, they established a trading post on the island of Banda Aceh (today’s Jakarta). They soon realized that there was much potential for coffee cultivation on Banda Aceh because of its unique climate and soil conditions. The Dutch started to import large quantities of coffee from Africa and India to try to realize this potential. However, it was not until the 17th century that coffee truly took off as a crop around the world.
Mounds View (MN) was founded in 1858 on the east bank of the Missouri River, about 20 miles south of Minneapolis. The site had been an important trading post since 1785 and a military depot during the American War of Independence. Mounds View became a city in 1872, and its first mayor, A.P. Hill, was elected by popular vote. The population peaked at over 30,000 in 1910 but declined to 15,000 by 1920 because of Prohibition and other factors. After years of decline, Mounds View regained some of its former prosperity as a bedroom community for Minneapolis until the late 1960s when it lost much of its manufacturing sector to suburban communities closer to job centers. Today, Mounds View is a small town with strong ties to Twin Cities culture and history
Mounds View was founded in 1851 by Captain John A. Worth and his wife, Elizabeth. The town was named for the mounds that were found nearby. In 1870, Mounds View became a county seat of Hennepin County.
