The Richfield County Sheriff’s Office Museum has a rich military history dating back to the early 1800s. The museum is home to two World War II era air-raids museums, the McDonnell Douglas A-10 Warthog Museum and the Boeing B-737 Heritage Museum. In addition, the museum has a collection of artillery and armor artifacts dating back to 1868. The Richfield County Sheriff’s Office Museum is open Wednesday through Sunday from 10am to 4pm. Richfield is a city in the U.S. state of Minnesota, and the county seat for Ramsey County. The population was 511 at the 2010 census. The city is located in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. It is one of the largest cities in Minnesota, with a population of over 1 million people as of 2019. The first settlers in Richfield were farmers who arrived around 1851. In 1872, the Richfield post office was established and remained in operation until 1971; it was then moved to Maple Grove. By 1907, when Richfield annexation became official, there were more than 60 businesses operating within its boundaries alone (the current total number is over 200). In 1912, Minneapolis-St Paul City Council came up with a plan to build an expressway through downtown that would connect Minneapolis with Saint Paul; however, this project never got off the ground because of funding issues and disagreements between both cities about who should own and maintain it. In 1957, after years of planning and discussion by local officials including Mayor John Sheehan and Chief Engineer Jerome Ladd – which culminated with a groundbreaking ceremony on October 10th – construction began on what would become Riverfront Boulevard which ran through downtown from near Center Court east to First Avenue north-northwest. This road would eventually become known as “Route 66” to honor its predecessor. It wasn’t until May 2nd 1978 that Richfield officially became an incorporated town when it voted 71% in favor against an ordinance proposed by referendum entitled “An Act Relating To incorporation And Establishment Of A Town Within The City Limits Of Minneapolis-Saint Paul”; this vote gave birth to what is now called “Richfield Township” (other nearby towns consolidated into Ramsey County prior to incorporation). On January 1st 1984, following passage of another referendum proposing annexation of parts of Marshalltown by Richfield Township (an action that never happened due to objections from those within Ramsey County), formal incorporation took place under ordinance No 04-27 signed by Mayor Strom Thurmond following public hearings held on November 3rd 1984 at North Park Hall inside the old Central Manufacturing site across from the old Red Wing Woolen Mill complex on Tenth Street Northeast (now home to Target ). As part as mayor Strom Thurmond proudly proclaimed during ceremonies marking completion: "This township has always been open for business". On July 17th 2006 two referenda were placed before voters in neighboring Winona Heights regarding whether or not they want their municipality status changed from village/township to full city status; these referenda passed with majorities yeas and nays respectively; after nine years without any decision being made about whether or not their municipal status should remain unchanged Winona Heights became fullfledged city proper just days later on November 6th 2006!

Richfield is a small town in Williamson County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 1,857 at the 2010 census. The name of the town comes from the Indian word "rik-gwin" meaning "rich deposits of coal." Coal mining and other industries have been located in and around Richfield for over 120 years. The first settlers in what is now Richfield were farmers who arrived in 1851 from Hardin County, Kentucky. They built cabins on a hill overlooking the townsite and began to mine coal from the area. By 1870, there were more than 50 businesses in Richfield with a payroll of $10,000 per year. Coal Mining Company No. 2 (CMC2) was founded here in 1872 by two brothers, John and Samuel Hennepin. CMC2 developed Richfield into one of the leading coalmining communities of its time with numerous mines and mills located throughout the town including Richfields #1 & #3 Mine which are still operational today as part of MohawkCoal Ltd., an affiliate company of Peabody Energy Corporation. In 1907, when Minesweeper No. 281 led miners searching for new seams near what is now downtown Richfield they discovered high quality anthracite coal underground that had not been found before! This discovery helped change how people thought about coal mining and made it an attractive investment for companies such as CMC2 who began to build ships to bring their product back to America where it would be processed into fuels like gasoline and kerosene. In 1916 two local men named Harry Nielsen and Ole Olsen started farming land outsideof town on which they erected a farmhouse which remains standing today as one of only a few examples remaining from this early period in township history! During World War I many soldiers stationed here went off to fight overseas while their families stayed behind; some families even raised chickens on their property! After the war ended most miners returned home but some continued working at CMC2 until 1931 when it merged with othercoalminingcompanies forming American Minerals Corporation (AMC). This merger created another boom time forRichfeldthespruceeatscoalmarketplacewhereminersand consumers gathered togethertobuyand sellcoalproducedbyvariousamccompanymembersincludingJohnPinegar& hisbrotherMarshallandsomeothersomeshoweverthemarket quickly crasheddue tobeturnoffertonatural gasproductioninstead! With increasing production coming out of various Canadian oil shale fields ProctorAndRogers Copper ExplorationCompany LLC decided to explore rich veins of copper ore hidden below ground inside MN that had yet to be tapped! Over night on January 3rd 1999 P&R Corp shipped chunks or “pieces” size 25 inches by 25 inches downhole at Rankin Island just east OFRichfieldalongwithseveralothercompanystocomeoutourofficial announcement statingthatthedevelopmentwouldcauseaworldrecordminecompletionrate!! This event marked an important milestone for Richfeldthespruceeatscoalmarketplacewhereminersand consumers gathered togethertobuyand sellcoalproducedbyvariousamccompanymembersincludingJohnPinegar& hisbrotherMarshallandsomeothersomeshoweverthemarket quickly crasheddue tobeturnoffertonatural gasproductioninstead! Assembling an allen keyed dynamo used toget these large pieces down was no easy task however P&R Corp managed to do it without any fatalities !!
Richfield was founded in 1853 by John F. Rich and his family. It became a town in 1865, when it merged with neighboring Hackensack. In 1898, the towns of Addison and Hastings were added to Richfield. The population of Richfield grew rapidly during the late 1800s and early 1900s, reaching 100,000 by 1910. However, the Great Depression hit Richfield hard and the population decreased to 50,000 by 1930. In 1940, the town annexed part of Minneapolis as its new boundary. The population of Richfield increased once again during World War II due to military recruiting efforts; however, it declined after the war because of low birth rates. The town's peak population occurred between 1960 and 1970 when it had peaked at 150,000 people. However, since then there has been a gradual decline in the population; today it is below 60,000 people.
