The Coast Guard Auxiliary of South St. Paul, Minnesota was founded in 1921. TheSGA is a volunteer organization that provides coastal security and maritime patrol services for the community. The SGA's mission is to protect the coast by providing humanitarian assistance, reducing pollution, and rescuing sailors and fishermen in distress. Since its establishment, the Coast Guard Auxiliary of South St. Paul has donated over $2 million to various organizations within the community. gifts from the SGA have been used for many different purposes such as hurricane relief, education initiatives, disaster response, and more. In 2017 alone, donations were used to purchase new equipment and clothing for local law enforcement officers as well as supplies for local schools. Gift history between South St. Paul and other organizations can be traced back to 1921 when members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary met at a hotel near Duluth to form their own organization. From there, they chose SaintPaul as their home base due to its accessible location on both sides of the Mississippi River Estuary which made it an ideal place to provide coastal security services while also promoting maritime commerce throughout the region. Today, with over 50 years of service behind them, members of the Coast Guard Auxiliary continue to offer valuable support to those who live near or rely on our coastline- whether it’s during natural disasters like hurricanes or when needed for emergencies like medical help or search-and-rescue missions

The Coast Guard Station in the city was established in 1915 and is one of the oldest continuously staffed coast guard stations on the Great Lakes. South St. Paul is a city in the U.S. state of Minnesota, with a population of over 183,000 as of 2018. The city is home to The University ofMinnesota–St. Paul and several other universities and businesses. It is also the hometown of former President Barack Obama, who was born and raised in the city before moving to Chicago when he was elected president in 2008. The history of South St. Paul dates back to 1854, when gray-haired farmers founded the town on a hill above what is now downtown South St.Paul after finding a strategic location for their land grant from Territorial Governor LeRoy Collins. By 1860, South St.Paul had a public school and two churches; it had no hospital until 1884 when Drury Hospital opened at Seventh Avenue and Congress Street (now Saint Anthony Falls Boulevard). In 1886, South StPaul became an incorporated municipality; its first mayor was James Ahern (1886-1902). In 1908, construction began on what would become Park East High School (later Park East Elementary School) on lands donated by Miss Emma Willard near present day First Street east of Court Square; this led to the nickname “Willard’s Hill” throughout much ofSouthStPaul history because so much development took place around that intersection during those early years without village approval or involvement! In 1916, new City Hall was built on State Street southwest of Court Square following plans by Mayor John Larkin which called for an angular building that could be seen from much of downtown Minneapolis due to its height – today known as City Hall Park! On November 5th 1918 during World War I Veteran’s Day ceremonies dedicated to all those service members who died in the Great Lakes region including many from SouthStPaul area include bugler Edmond Duffy who played for USMC battalion 1st Marines at battles at Belle Isle Harbor off Detroit MI on October 25th 1914 while Company C3/5 Infanteries were fighting under General Pershing!! This event helped generate support for Mr Larkin’s re-election campaign later that year! AfterWorld War I ended in 1919 local industry slowly withered away as manufacturing shifted towards trucks and autos combined with Grayslake becoming more populous white collar jobs outside orbit cities like Minneapolis while blacks didn’t see significant progress until after WWII !! Bordering Worth County until 1912 it then annexed part of Ramsey County 1912 prompting some merger activity but no formal annexation occurred until 1915 when all six towns forming south central MNRA merged into one entity forming what we know today as “South StPaul MNRA”minus Worth County

South St. Paul became an important railroad center during the late 19th century and early 20th century, with several large railroad companies operating out of the town. In addition to its significance as a transportation center, South St. Paul also played an important role inMinnesota's history as a state. The first store in South St. Paul opened in 1851, and over time various other businesses established themselves in the town- including a bank, hotel, post office, grocery store, car dealership, schoolhouse and more. By 1915 South St.Paul had become one of the most important cities in Minnesota due to its importance as a rail junction and commerce center; however, during World War II SouthStPaul was struggling economically due to wartime rationing policies. After the war ended however, SouthStPaul began to grow again thanks to new industrial development; today it is one of the most vibrant communities in Minneapolis County
South Saint Paul was founded in 1851 as the town of Bloomington. The city was named after South Saint Paul, Minnesota, which was then a part of Dakota Territory. In 1881, the Minneapolis-St.Paul Railway Company built a line from downtown Minneapolis to South Saint Paul and renamed the town South St. Paul. On May 15, 1909, South St. Paul became an incorporated city with a population of 53,000 people.
