The Marines of Company K, 1st Battalion, 2nd Marine Regiment have been deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom many times. The battalion has served in Kuwait and Bahrain, as well as troops in St. Cloud since May 2003. The marines have received many awards for their service to the country, including the prestigious Silver Star Medal and Purple Heart. In honor of their latest deployment, the marines are hosting a gift history event at the St Cloud Municipal Auditorium on Saturday, December 12th from 10 am to 1 pm. There will be demonstrations by marine veterans of previous deployments and civilian volunteers who will help decorate and present gifts to attendees. There is no charge for attendance but donations can be made to the Marine Corps Welfare Foundation or local military charities. This year's deployment marks the fifteenth anniversary of company K's activation and it is hoped that this event will help underscore how much these marines appreciate all that they do for our country and its people!

St. Cloud is a small town in Minnesota, located about seventy-five miles north of St. Paul. The population was 3,814 at the 2010 census.
