The United States Air Force has a long and proud history in Woodbury, MN. The city is home to the world’s third largest air force base, and the USAF has played an important role in the community since its creation. Air Force Base Woodbury has been host to many memorable moments over the years including: – On October 31st, 1957 President Dwight D Eisenhower dedicated RAF Woodbury following its opening by then-Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara; this event marked the first time an American military installation had been dedicated outside of metropolitan Washington D.C.. – On April 25th, 1961 president John F Kennedy announced his intention to sendlift 2nd Lt Neil Armstrong onto Mount Everest during his upcoming visit to India; Armstrong became one of only two humans ever sent into space! This event also marked NASA’s first manned mission beyond Earth orbit! Apollo 11 moon landing took place on July 20th 1969 while RAF Woodbury watched from launch pad 17A!

The fighter jet is now housed at Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio and is used as part of aerial refueling mission flights over Iraq and Afghanistan.

Woodbury, Minnesota is a small town located in Ramsey County, Minnesota, United States. The population was 5,626 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Minneapolis-St. Paul metropolitan area. The first European visitors to Woodbury were French explorers and fur traders in 1697. The Town of Woodbury was organized on February 14, 1851 by a group of farmers and businessmen who had been forced out of their home town of Duluth by a military expedition led by General Zachary Taylor during the Dakota Wars. On March 9, 1852, voters approved the organization of a village government with a board of trustees and an annual budget of $1,000. The first post office was established in Woodbury on October 10, 1853 (the name for what is now Hennepin County). A local farmstead became known as "Fenway" after General Alfred Fenway's home in Boston Heights where he lived from 1824 to 1850 when he served as commander-in-chief of all American forces west of the Mississippi River. AFSU professor emeritus John Wills wrote that "Fenway may have been derived from 'fen' meaning 'distance,' 'way,' or even simply 'place,' given its proximity to Boston Heights." In 1860, interest in developing land around Fenton Prairie created conflict between residents who wanted more space and those who wanted access to water supplies important for farming purposes; this led to the founding—and eventual dissolution—of several towns along Highway 35 near present day Maple Grove before eventually being satisfied with land east and west sides of Highway 35 within present day Thomson Village which then developed into Maple Grove In 1870 George Stephenson built his sawmill on what is now Big Lake Boulevard just north of Main Street in today's Forest Hills neighborhood; it remained one of the largest mills operating in MN until 1942 when it closed due to Allied bombing raids which destroyed most major industrial facilities across Europe during World War II including many steel mills throughout North America including Woodbury Accordingly much early woodworking taking place here took place at Stephenson Mill rather than at nearby Mankato's Logging Company which also operated during this time period
The town of Woodbury was founded in 1858 by James and Elizabeth (Leeds) White. The first post office was established in 1860, and the first store was opened in 1875. In 1893, the town changed its name to Duluth.
